Erasmus MC Doktora devam ediyor Tüm insanlık için çalışmanın en etkin yolunun bilim olduğunu düşünmekteyim. İnsana olan bitmek tükenmek bilmeyen merakım ile bu hayat amacı birleşince psikoloji bilimine yönelmem kaçınılmaz oldu. Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Psikoloji bölümünden Yüksek Şeref derecesiyle mezun okuduktan sonra Leiden

Üniversitesi'nde Klinik Psikoloji yüksek lisansımı "cum laude" olarak tamamladım. Bilimsel okur-yazarlık doğru bilgiyi yanlıştan ayırma yetisi kazandırır ki bunu öğrendiğim yer ise ODTÜ olmuştur.1959 yılında kurulan ODTÜ Psikoloji bölümü; köklü bilim geleneği, araştırma temelli eğitim ortamı, yetkin öğretim üyeleri ve araştırma olanakları bakımından, akademik ve bilimsel hedeflerime ulaşmamda bana büyük katkıda bulundu.

2015 yılında bir dönem süresince değişim öğrencisi olarak bulunduğum Hollanda'danın bilim kültürü ve özgür düşünce ortamı beni çok etkiledi. Leiden Üniversitesi tarafından 750 başvuru içinde 50 kişiye verilen "Leiden Excellenece Scholarship" bursunu kazanmam sayesinde bu ülkeye okumak için geri dönebilmiştim. Yüksek lisans tezimi yazdığım ve araştırma stajımı yaptığım laboratuarın araştırma metodları arasında EEG ve fMRI gibi nöropsikolojik ölçümler de bulunmaktaydı. Bu süreçte hem EEG (Elektroansefalografi) kullanmayı ve kaydedilen beyin dalgalarını analiz etmeyi öğrendim. Ardından, deneyin diğer aşamasında kullandığımız fMRI (Fonksiyonel Manyetik Rezonans Görüntüleme) ile daha da çok ilgilendim. Bu konuda tez danışmanıma göre çok yetenek ve başarı göstermiştim ki, Leiden Üniversitesi Hastanesi'nde fMRI çekme ehliyeti veren tarama sertifikası sınavına girip bunu alabilmeme yardım etmişti.

Şub 2018- Şub 2020 arasında, Leiden Üniversitesi, Sosyal ve Davranışsal Bilimler Fakültesi Psikoloji Bölümü'nde bulunan Beyin ve Gelişim laboratuarında araştırma asistanı olarak çalıştım. Buna ek olarak, Şub 2018 - Tem 2019 arası psikoloji bölümünde çalışma grubu öğretmenliği yaptım. Yüksek lisansımda eğitimini aldığım Bilişsel Davranışçı Terapi'ye ek olarak Ocak 2021'de Şema Terapi Enstitüsü'nden Prof. Gonca Soygüt Pekak'tan ISST onaylı temel düzey şema terapisti eğitimi aldım. Şema terapinin, süregelen ve karakterimize işlemiş sorunları çok insani ve etkili bir şekilde ele alması beni hayli etkiledi. Şu anda şema terapi süpervizyonu altında danışan kabul ediyorum. Bu sayede sizinle sadece ben değil, anonim olarak hocalarım da ilgilenebilecek ve terapi süreci daha kontrollü ve etkili şekilde gerçekleşebilecek.

I’m proud to share that I obtained my in epidemiology! Grateful to my supervisors, colleagues, friends & family for their support. These 5 years will help me critically assess etiology of disorders & evidence for psychological treatments.

In my research, I explored the complex relationship between migraine and the vascular system, aiming to shed light on the vascular components underlying migraine, especially in the elderly population. This work contributes to a better understanding of migraine’s epidemiology and its potential links to broader vascular health issues.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to my (co-)promotors Prof. Kamran Ikram and Daniel Bos for their guidance throughout this journey, and to my paranymphs ( ) and colleagues for their support on this special day. I would also like to thank the great committee members for the lively discussion, it was an absolute honor to defend my thesis in the presence of experts such as: Prof. Michel Ferrari, Prof. Maryam Kavousi, Prof. Tobias Kurth, Dr. Janne Papma, Prof. Antoinette Maassen van den Brink and Dr. Erik Bischoff.

One more course finished! That means it's time for the traditional class photo :) I am proud of my students in Perspectives on Career Planning course at ...

The photos show their end presentations where they are using science to solve societal problems. I love the areas they chose to intervene: gender bias in diagnosis, phone addiction, social media and body dysmorphia, barriers for access to higher education for people with disabilities, online teams, overprescription of antidepressants and more...
