Some people will try to go as far as possible to escape their past. But the truth is, we have our past within us. It will be there no matter where we go, in an internal luggage that keeps following us. Every experience we have lived and every memory that we own. Nice moments, painful moments, feelings of happiness but also sadness and fear.

Our past will no longer bother us when we manage to make peace with that. When we are able to forgive and move on. When we realize that big part of it was not even our fault.

Then we can open our luggage and find new treasures in it. 🌸

"Where do I want to be for the rest of my life? What is the profession I would like to follow until I get old? What do I want to do from now on?". 🤔

These are very common questions people try to answer. The truth is, it's difficult to give an answer that will last forever since this answer will be based on the experiences, needs and mindset one has NOW.

So it's better if we change the questions and bring them to the present moment :
➡️ where do I want to be NOW?
➡️ What is the profession I would like to follow NOW?
➡️ What do I want to do NOW?

Focusing on the present can bring more satisfaction and motivation, but can also set the base for a better future. 🌸

On the 9th of June we were invited by to give a lecture at Leiden University , department of Psychology, under the title "How to be an international psychologist in the Netherlands". 🌍 It was the first meeting that took place at the University after months of quarantine. Students watched the lecture in person but also online and we really enjoyed the conversation with them! 🌷

You ate more last night. And now you are thinking "I ate more already. I will eat more today since I messed it up".

You drank again. And now you are thinking "I will drink again because I slipped already".

You smoked again. And now you are thinking "nah, I will smoke again because I failed already".

Please remember this: one fall is ONE FALL. And it's done! It has happened! And it's ok! The question is what are you going to choose from now on?

Will you stay on the ground? Or will you stand up again?

Sometimes we worry too much about the opinion of others. Do they like me? Am I good enough for them? Am I doing the right thing based on their opinion? Am I accepted by them? 😕

What if we step back for a minute and ask ourselves if WE actually like all these people in our life. 🤔 Why is their attention, acceptance and love so important to us? What do we sacrifice in order to get it? Are we eventually happy with these sacrifices?
