Did you know? If amblyopia is not treated during childhood, the patient’s central vision may not develop correctly. The problem may affect their ability to do certain tasks. (Source: medicalnewstoday.com)

However, a late treatment is better than no treatment. Studies have shown that because of our brain's neuroplastic ability, there is still hope for older teens and adults to be treated. However, we advice that the earlier treatment is commenced, the better the outcome.

From birth, babies begin exploring the wonders in the world with their eyes.

Even before they learn to reach and grab with their hands or crawl and sit-up, their eyes are providing information and stimulation important for their development.

We are obsessed with this fact and are dedicated to create awareness on how important this period is in the life of a baby.

Do you know how depth perception works?

Depth perception is the ability to perceive the world in three dimensions (3D) and to judge the distance of objects.

Not having accurate depth perception can have a major impact on your life, from early childhood learning to what jobs you're able to do.

A lack of depth perception can be caused by numerous conditions, we go deeper on this subject on our website.

Many times, the way a child behaves or reacts is because they processes sensory information from a situation differently than other children.

Sensory integration is the process of taking in information from the environment through various sensory systems. If you watch a small baby play, you may be able to get a better sense of what sensory integration is. A baby's primary learning senses include vision.

Unfortunately, there are some children whose sensory systems do not develop efficiently. They may have a sensory processing disorder. A child with a sensory disorder gathers information from sight.

However, when the data enters the brain, it is not organized or processed correctly. As a result, the brain sends out an inappropriate response.

Babies from all over the world learn to see over a period of time, you can compare it with how they learn to walk and talk. They are not born with all the visual abilities they need in life. The ability to focus their eyes, move them accurately, and use them together as a team must be learned.

They need to learn how to use the visual information the eyes send to their brain in order to understand the world around them and interact with it appropriately.

Recently, our founder Yoshinori Kawamura was asked by his friend how children can get smarter? It's a random question but indeed everyone is very curious to know, especially mothers.

Vision and learning are intimately related. In fact, experts say that roughly 80 percent of what a child learns in school is information that is presented visually.

So good vision is essential but not only 20/20 visions. See a very helpful experimental video to learn:

Many people don't know that eyeglasses are the most widely used medical device in the world and it's from about 1290!! We tend to think of them as fashion statements more than medical devices. But that’s a relatively recent development. It's a different perception.

It was considered rude to wear glasses in public spaces many hundred years ago. With the invention of flexible wire in the 19th century and plastic in the 20th, framed glasses we see today became the most comfortable, convenient way to wear glasses for longer periods of time. And glasses also became a fixture of many people’s faces, they became a statement of identity and fashion.

To others, glasses can make you look cool or like a dork, but they can also change your self-perception.

When was your last time to take an eye exam? Perhaps 10 years ago? Or yesterday? Perhaps you should check your eye immediately to enhance your performance.

Usually, adults don't often take an eye exam as long as the brain recognizes what to see. However, even a few minutes a day spent training our eyesight will help improve our vision.

"Because the retina is the only part of the body where the brain reaches out from the safe darkness of our skull and directly experiences the external world it is no surprise to learn that changes in our eyesight are accompanied by changes in the neural connections in our brain."

We are often asked if adults can be treated for Amblyopia? The answer is "Yes" and "No".

It's just hard to say without many adult cases but we know there are many adult cases reported globally. A lot researchers/experts are working hard to prove the theory, so do we?

"Dichoptic training" is the key as we believe. Please read more on:

Do you drive a car every day or do you play a VR game?

We don't often consider that we live in a 3-dimensional world but our eyes can show us only two dimensions.

The miracle of human depth perception comes from our brain's ability to put together two 2D images in such a way as to extrapolate depth.

That's why we can drive a car without crashing into other cars and enjoy playing an immersive VR game.

Have you heard of "Dichoptic Therapy"?

Most species of Arthropoda with compound eyes bear just two eyes that are located separately, like a crab or mayfly. This arrangement is called dichoptic.
