I am a practical person and really enjoy genuine hospitality. As a restaurant visitor with a passion for the industry, I can identify the warmth of a welcome in a split second and enjoy those special details. I also use my critical eye to spot mediocre service and the consequences of a chaotic kitchen – a real shame for your guests and a risk to the success of any catering business! As a professional with a wealth of experience in the catering sector, I don’t just stand and watch from the sidelines, but actively seek out catering entrepreneurs. I offer practical advice, training and teaching to people involved in catering to help them deliver genuine hospitality. For me, every guest should be a guest of honour. A passionate and experienced catering professional
I have been working in the catering sector since 1972 and am a passionate catering professional with a wealth of practical experience, having worked in roles including sommelier and chef de rang in the Netherlands, Egypt, France, the United Kingdom, Cameroon, Peru and Zambia. I was subsequently employed in management-level positions as a management assistant and branch manager for various restaurants: Kaatje bij de Sluis in Blokzijl (1 Michelin star), Maison van den Boer in Veghel, Chalet Royal in Den Bosch and Chalet Brakkestein in Nijmegen. After this I spent 18 years as deputy director of Humphreys Restaurants Nederland (18 outlets), where I was responsible for taking care of purchasing, compiling menus and wine lists, directing management, kitchen and service staff and handling event catering. With Burgman Hospitality I am pursuing my passion for hospitality in the catering sector and am teaching people involved in catering and healthcare how to provide a professional and stylish service – when it comes to serving or looking after customers, in the kitchen or at management level.
