We live in polarized times, where “being different” is often met with judgment. This creates fear for many, especially for individuals within the LGBTQI+ community. Our society is deeply rooted in binary thinking and a heteronormative perspective. What if you don't feel free within this framewor...

Sartre said we’re “condemned to be free.”
It sounds dramatic—until you remember how often freedom feels like a trap.

To choose is to risk. To commit is to close a door. To act is to be responsible for the consequences.

So many people wait. For clarity. For a sign. For the “right” moment. But waiting is also a choice. And it has a cost.

Avoiding a decision doesn’t protect you from uncertainty—it just keeps you stuck in it.

What’s one decision you’ve been avoiding?
And what’s it quietly costing you to stay undecided?

Every change comes with a loss (of the old, of what was, of what cannot be anymore).

Living abroad is exciting—until your therapist asks why you don’t just move back.

For a long time I resisted saying I specialize in "working with expats". One, because of the weight the word expat carries. Why expat and not immigrant? And two, because I wanted to work with "regular problems". After 13 years in The Netherlands working as a therapist, I realize how important it is for my clients when I understand the nuances, when I suggest that what they're going through is not uniquely their experience but that of many many clients I see that live in an expat bubble in The Netherlands. It's not you, it's also the surroundings.

I will never ask you if you "feel like home". Because I understand the absurdity of the question.

It cannot be answered, not really, not in a way that someone born and raised in the same country expects you to.

I work online with global clients, individual and couples. I see clients in person In Madrid. And I teach Gestalt Therapy to students in The Netherlands. Reach out for an appointment.

Free falling into one's self, only to realize (and to realize and to realize) that it's for some, as simple as doing what feels right, and as difficult as losing what was built.

Clients that lose relationships, teachers that lose students, students that lose partners, therapists that watch people lose, and wonder what they're allowed to let loose.

Lovely 💛

So this is really your job? Someone asked me, after a session where something really shifted, we could both feel it. Humbled by the experience and her soft new freedom, I was very moved. I never wrote about this before because it’s such an intimate place. But why would I hold back to speak openly about this important part of my work? Truly arriving in the now with what emerges. In that one moment without pushing for it, a new found freedom is suddenly there. Like clouds, lifting. It feels magical although it’s very actual and real. Nothing really changed but now everything seems different. It humbles me, every single time I meet someone.
