A young woman once asked a monk, “Master, how can I let go of my anxiety?”
The monk smiled and said:
> “From the moment you wake up, the world throws a thousand things at your mind — worries, comparisons, what-ifs, deadlines, opinions, and fears.
And your mind, being loyal to its purpose, tries to protect you by imagining every possible outcome.
But in doing so, it traps you in an endless cycle of worry — you begin to see danger in harmless places, threats in peaceful moments, and problems in things that haven’t even happened.”
The woman listened quietly, her eyes reflecting the chaos she felt inside.
The monk continued,
> “To let go of anxiety, you must return to the present moment.
Take a deep breath… and notice the sound of the birds, the rustle of the wind, the rhythm of your breath.
Each time your mind runs toward fear, gently bring it back to now — this breath, this heartbeat, this moment.”
He smiled and added softly,
> “You see, your anxiety lives in your mind — but peace lives in the present.
The more you practice being here, the less power your anxious thoughts will have over you.”
The young woman bowed and said, “So peace was never something to find… it was something to return to.”
🌸 Lesson:
Your mind will always try to “fix” the future, but peace only exists in the now.
Don’t fight your thoughts — simply return to your breath.
Every time you do, you reclaim your power from worry and step closer to serenity.
✨ Breathe. Be present. That’s where your peace has always been.
