Nipah Virus: Signs, Symptoms & Treatment
🔹 Early Signs
- Fever
- Headache
- Extreme fatigue
- Nausea / vomiting
- Sore throat, body ache
🔹 Respiratory Symptoms
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty breathing
🔹 Severe / Warning Signs
- Confusion, altered behavior
- Seizures
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness or coma
- Encephalitis (brain swelling)
- Symptoms can worsen rapidly within 24–48 hours
🏥 Treatment

❗ No specific cure for Nipah virus
- Early hospital admission
- Supportive care (fluids, fever & pain control)
- Oxygen therapy / ventilator if needed
- Management of seizures & brain swelling
- ICU care for severe cases
🔹 Medicines
- No proven antiviral treatment
- Ribavirin: used in some cases (benefit not confirmed)
- Early detection + supportive care = better survival
