Onion juice has shown encouraging potential for hair regrowth. In a Journal of Dermatology study on people with alopecia areata, applying onion juice twice daily led to early regrowth in just 2 weeks, and by 8 weeks, nearly 87% of participants saw significant hair return compared to only 13% in the control group. While this research focused on patchy hair loss rather than male pattern baldness, it highlights onion juice as a simple, natural remedy with promise. Experts note that more studies are needed, but the results suggest onion juice could play a role in future treatments for hair restoration.

During a delicate surgery to remove a tumor from a young woman’s salivary glands, Dr. Oguz Basut suddenly began to feel unwell. The day before, he had suffered food poisoning, and now his blood pressure was dropping. But with the tumor positioned dangerously close to a vital facial nerve, stopping the operation could have put the patient at serious risk.

Determined to finish, Dr. Basut asked his colleagues to insert an IV into his right foot so he could stabilize while continuing the procedure from a seated position. Within minutes, his blood pressure returned to normal, and the surgery proceeded successfully.

A photo of the scene—Basut calmly operating while hooked to an IV—quickly went viral. Bursa Uludag University’s president, Ahmet Saim Kilavuz, shared the image and praised the surgeon’s commitment and courage in the face of personal discomfort.

Dr. Basut, however, downplayed the praise: “I’m not a hero,” he said. “I believe any professional in my place would have done the same.”

When it comes to improving your health by walking, the magic number may be less than you think

New research in the Lancet reviewed nearly 60 previous studies and found that people who walked 7,000 steps a day had a 47% lower risk of death, a 25% lower risk of cardiovascular disease and a 6% lower risk of cancer.

Researchers says 7,000 steps per day may be more realistic than the 10,000 that has been the unofficial target for years.
