Born in France in 1946 Matthieu Ricard is a Buddhist monk,author, translator, and photographer. He first visited Indiain 1967 where he met great spiritual masters from Tibet.After completing his Ph.D. degree in cell genetics in 1972,he moved to the Himalayan region where he has beenliving for the past 45 years.

On the occasion of 12 years She-Dugdra Festival, TilgangaEye Foundation organized an eye camp from Bhadra 16 to18 in cooperation with She-Phoxundo Rural Municipality,Dolpobuddha Rural Municipality and ChharkatongsongRural Municipality. 61 people underwent cataract surgery inthe camp. A few weeks before the camp was operated, theteam of Eye Hospital had reached all the municipalities ofDolpa district and conducted a screening program todetect cataract problems. 61 cataract patients who couldperform surgery in eye camp while screening of 12hundred 92 women and one thousand 83 men.

Mahawati family is sitting in a small hut in the Sukubasi town of Gramthan -2 Princess Told.It was impossible to raise the expenses of eye treatment for families who lived by doing farming and wage labour.But the free eye camp organized by Ramlal Golcha Eye Hospital and Ruit Foundation gave him a chance to see the brighter world again.After the surgery,Mahawati expressed his gratitude to the organizational organizations,'Because of you I am able to see again with both eyes today'For her it wasn't just therapy,it was a chance to start a new chapter again.
