Bone fragility often increases after menopause due to a decline in estrogen levels.
Estrogen plays a key role in maintaining bone density by balancing bone formation and bone breakdown. When estrogen levels drop during menopause, bone resorption accelerates, leading to decreased bone mass and a higher risk of osteoporosis. As a result, bones become weaker and more prone to fractures, even with minor falls or injuries. Early screening, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, regular weight-bearing exercise, and medical guidance can help protect bone health during this stage of life.
