Corneal Foreign Body

A corneal foreign body is any object like dust, metal, wood, or sand that gets stuck on the surface of your eye (cornea). It may seem small, but it can lead to severe pain, infection, and even vision loss if not treated promptly.

Common Symptoms:

✔️ Feeling of something in the eye

✔️ Redness and watering

✔️ Sensitivity to light

✔️ Blurred vision

What To Do:

👁 Don’t rub your eyes!

👁 Rinse gently with clean water or saline

👁 Seek immediate help from an eye care professional

फोटो खिच्दा बालबालिकाको आँखामा देखिने रातो रिफ्लेक्स (red-eye reflex) सामान्य रूपमा छ कि छैन भन्ने कुरा ध्यानपूर्वक जाँच्नुहोस्। जब कम प्रकाशमा फोटो खिचिन्छ, क्यामेराको फ्ल्यासले आँखाको रेटिना पछाडि रहेको रेटिनल पिग्मेन्ट (pigment) र रक्तनलीहरूको तहलाई देखाउँछ, जुन आँखाको फैलिएको पुपिल (pupil) बाट देखिन्छ। यस कारणले फोटोमा आँखा रातो देखिन सक्छ, जुन एकदमै सामान्य कुरा हो। गाढा रंगका आँखामा यो रातो रिफ्लेक्स अलिक कम देखिन सक्छ।

तर यदि बालबालिकाको आँखामा रेटिनोब्लास्टोमा (retinoblastoma) नामक ट्युमर (tumor) छ भने, क्यामेराको फ्ल्यासको प्रकाश रेटिनासम्म पुग्न सक्दैन। त्यसैले प्रकाश फर्किएर आँखा बाहिर फर्कन्छ, जसले गर्दा फोटोमा रातो रिफ्लेक्सको सट्टा सेतो चमक वा रिफ्लेक्स नभएको जस्तो देखिन्छ।
