This isn’t my usual photo… but let’s be honest, I love a cupcake as much as the next person! 🍰

The rise in Type 2 diabetes in our young people is alarming, and it’s happening right here in Aotearoa.

A recent study from Waikato and Auckland found that over a quarter of under-25s with diabetes have Type 2, a condition that was once considered rare in youth.

This is no longer a middle-aged issue, obesity, poverty, food insecurity, and lack of access to proper care are driving a growing health crisis, particularly among Māori and Pasifika communities.

We can’t wait until adulthood to act.

Prevention starts now.
We need to
✔️Improve access to real, nourishing foo
✔️Cut down on sugary, ultra-processed products
✔️ Teach our kids by Example
✔️Support families with practical tools for long-term change.
