This September, we have heard many different voices from a range of whānau and communities about fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) and continue to hear about the importance of lived experience. These slides give a voice to those with lived experience in a 2022 research paper documenting the lived experience of adolescents with FASD.

During the research process, those with lived experience shared their stories about the unique challenges living with FASD presents, what that means for their whānau and communities, and how these challenges impact their mental health, well-being, and support networks.
Their stories also highlight that with the proper support and encouragement, those living with FASD and their whānau can and do thrive.
