Some timely advice 😉

Luckily, the New Zealand winter months have been slightly more forgiving than previous years meaning that we can get out more and keep active. It’s always tricky trying to work out when it’s chilly outside, but I have some great ways to keep active during winter.

⁉️ How long does it take to build a new habit: 21 days, 30 days, 66 days? There are a lot of myths out there. Being honest, there is nothing about time passing that magically forms a habit.

‼️Habits are created based on how many times you do it and how often, not by the time passing . The next few weeks can pass and you can do something once or you can do it 50 or 100 times.

⁉️How long does it take to build a new habit?” is that the right question to ask? The main reason people ask this question is: How long until it’s easy? How long until I don’t have to put in work anymore? How long until I no longer have to think about it?

‼️In true honesty to “How long does it take to build a habit?” is: forever because once you’ve stopped doing it, it is no longer a habit.

‼️Habits are not an end goal to be reached, they’re a lifestyle to be lived.

‼️It’s not about working for 6 weeks and then you’re done. It’s about forming good habits that stay around forever!

‼️Good habits make the best use of your time. The habits you repeat every day essentially determine your health, wealth, and happiness.

➡️Build the habit of working out three times per week, and you can get in the best shape of your life.

➡️Build the habit of saving $100 per month, and your savings can build up into a nest egg that gives you freedom and peace of mind.

➡️Build a gratitude or meditation habit, and you can handle whatever life throws at you with a clear mind and positive attitude.

‼️Knowing how to change your habits means knowing how to confidently own and manage your days, focus on the behaviors that have the highest impact, and reverse-engineer the life you want.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on social media! Quite honestly I’ve enjoyed it.

I’m sure most of you have been or are going through Covid being in your household.

Remember to keep your sanity at the very least ! Keep doing things that make you happy!

These were some of my habits that I kept up with whilst our family was in isolation last week;

- I went for daily walks

- I doubled up on cooking nutritionally packed meals and vitamins

- I listened to calming music, motivational and educational podcasts whilst doing tasks around the house

- I put myself to bed early each night

Do you ever wonder how much sleep you or your kids should be getting each night?

The optimal amount of sleep differs amongst every individual but the most highly recommended amount is 7-9 hours in adults of ages 18-64 years old, and 7-8 hours in older adults 65 years and above.

Some things to consider

If you are not getting enough sleep, ask yourself if it is out of necessity. For some individuals who are unable to sleep, you may be suffering from insomnia or other health conditions. For such situations, it recommended to seek medical advice and treatment.

“Sleep is not a waste of time and should receive the same level of attention as nutrition and exercise in the package for good health.”
