Some exciting outreach opportunities are coming up! Reach out to Andy if you want to volunteer.

MOTAT STEM Fair: 2nd April. The MOTAT annual STEM fair is taking place on Sunday the 2nd of April. This year weโ€™re lucky to be able to make use the Lab In A Box, so weโ€™ll have a good location from which to showcase some photonics demonstrations and to launch some bottle rockets.

Science Wananga ki Kaitaia: 2nd - 5th of April. We will be joining the science wananga team for a trip to Kaitaia on the 2nd of April. We will be showing how photonics can be used to measure water pollution, and itโ€™ll be a great opportunity to work with some rangatahi Maori, some of whom we may have met on previous trips to Kaitaia Intermediate. Folks from outside of Auckland are welcome: I can put you in touch with the Otago Uni team who will be flying up on Sunday.

If youโ€™re interested, please contact Andy via email (xwan232@aucklanduni.ac.nz)

Had a really good time building lego optomechanics with Max today and feasting on some festive treats. I hope you'll agree that our time was well spent. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Experimenting with the gears we were able to get fine motor control using only lego pieces ๐ŸŽ‰

The instructions come from Steve Schuler's hackaday submissions
