My allergies have become untenable of late and seem to be getting progressively worse. It has gotten to the point that I can not wear makeup or hair products because my eczema has gotten so bad my skin will crack and weep. My bed often looks like a wolverine has attacked me in the night as I scratch so much in my sleep I bleed. I can’t go hiking due to pollen or visit family members who have pets. Even my nephews spray-on deodorant is enough to make me flee my sister’s house with swollen eyelids and the urge to pull my face off.
Recently I teamed up with the lovely team at and tried out their Optimal Intolerance test to dig deep into 280 possible culprits.

Here is my story over the last 8 weeks:
Intolerance Testing
Becoming a human fireball with a pissy immune system
Going on steroid anti-inflammatories
8 Week Elimination Diet
Identifying problem foods, intolerances and environmental issues

Recently I had intolerance testing done in New Zealand to help me get to the bottom of some auto immune intolerance issues.

My allergies are going haywire at the moment, I’m hypersensitive to a bunch of new things and I’m looking at getting some hair testing for 280 foods / heavy metals/ pesticides / mineral levels and allergens. Would anyone be interested in hearing more about how it goes?

So I had a bit if a nightmare holiday last week to the Gold Coast...

As you all know I have skin allergies along with food intolerances and they are so much worse when you are away from home and I don't have all my Go to lotions and potions to tame them.

I woke up the first night of my trip, scrunched my eyes open, only to realise one of them did not want to open, upon prodding my face, I realised it was pretty darn puffy, so I asked my partner, if my face looks weird, and he jumped telling me it kinda looked like I had had a stroke (I hadn't).

ON the left is me on a normal day when I am eating gluten, dairy free and low sugar. On the right is me after touching things that a cat had touched. In this particular instance, it was a cat sleeping on my pillowcase or towel.

So pleased to be back home with all my lotions and potions and regular diet to get my skin back to normal.

The one thing I love the most is COCONUT OIL, Aloe and my Marshmellow oil serum! when my skin is like this.

With that in mind, I wanted to give a shout out to my sister for writing a book on gluten-free skincare.

"The naturally gluten-free skincare and makeup guide: recipes, tips and tricks for naturally gluten-free skincare and makeup Kindle Edition"

You can check it out - it is that #2 for gluten free skincare ebook Amazo and is full of tips on how to deal with allergy prone skin and avoid putting so many chemicals on your skin.

For the next 24 hours, she is giving it away on Kindle for free if you want to check it out.

Hi, it’s Jessica here, just wanting to discuss the importance of gluten free skincare. When Lucy was diagnosed as Gluten Intolerant in 2008, it set off a series of ‘light bulb’ uh ha moments for her. Initially, she, like most of us, was dazed and …

I have been doing some Intermittent Fasting to try and heal some autoimmune issues and trigger a process called autophagy to tap into my bodies natural healing capabilities and deal with some immune system and hormone issues. So I whipped up this bad boy to break my fast at lunchtime in the gluten-free kitchen.

I would have to say this is one of the tastier green smoothies I have made so far, so I thought I would make a recipe post :D

Finally, no more kale fails!!!

I’m thinking they might make a casserole topping or fried chicken coating.

Who has tried these little devils? I’m currently munching on some cheese and onion.

🍞🥐🥖Are you not sure if you have food allergies? Or do you have family members (or friends) that suspect they might have food allergies, but they don't have a clue how to confirm if that is the case? 🧀🍕🌮

I struggled with this after a GP refused to give me skin prick allergy tests or blood tests for allergies.

I was put recommended this low-stress diet by Jeff the Healthspan Pharmacist at Sydenham Pharmacy in Christchurch after discovering I had pretty much every symptom on the list of gluten intolerance. Eczema, Asthma, chronically tired, grumpy, bitchy, itchy, moody, sad, skin infections, stomach ulcers, bloating… and so the list goes on.

I suspected before I went on this diet that I could be sensitive to gluten and dairy, but after...

So you think giving up gluten is as easy as avoiding bread and pasta? Sorry, think again! So we must ask the question Where is gluten hidden? In addition to giving up bread, you may also need to avoid food like potato chips, french fries and even chocolate. Although the following foods and items don't scream 'I HAVE GLUTEN IN ME', if you want to avoid the negative effects of gluten read the label on these items before you let them into your life:

So you are new to this gluten-free thing 🍩… or perhaps you have been doing it for a while, and you are sick of how expensive your food bill is when you buy “gluten-free” processed foods.

It feels like there is a 🤯 steep learning curve when you first go gluten-free, and sometimes it is easy to move from one food that is making you sick, to much-processed food with more sugar and less fibre.

So I wanted to put together this video (and an infographic that you can print out and use ) to decide what foods are gluten-free. Along with a few hidden places that got me the first few times.

We have all been there at some stage... whether it is reaching for those dumplings you know you should not have had. A restaurant poisoning you by mistake, or forgetting to check the label when you reach for a potato chip at a friends house. Whatever the reason you came into contact with gluten, here are my simple tips for detoxing and recovering from the dreaded "glutening" for you to keep in your arsenal.
