Hi all,
Diaphragm ultrasound is a technique that is growing in popularity in both research and clinical practice. In a recent paper by Regmi et al 2023, diaphragm muscle weakness was found to be present in post COVID-19 patients who were hospitalised and non- hospitalised by using ultrasound and a variety of other invasive measurement techniques. See paper link : https://www.atsjournals.org/doi/10.1164/rccm.202206-1243OC
Diaphragm ultrasound is a non invasive technique that can be used by clinicians, and it is cheap, portable and involves no radiation. But how do you start working with this technique, what are the benefits and drawbacks and what other populations can you use it in? All this will be covered in Scott Peirces upcoming talk! Hope to see you all there! https://breathemultidisciplinarycollaboration.com/ultrasoundwithscottpeirce/
