Due to have Surgery? Get your playlist ready.
A presentation at the 2024 American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress reported that listening to music after surgery speeds recovery. The research found that listening to music significantly reduced patients' pain levels, anxiety, heart rates, and use of morphine after surgery. For instance, music listeners used about 50% less morphine compared to non-listeners on the first post-surgery day. The findings suggest that music helps patients feel more relaxed and reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels and thus enhancing recovery.

Sciatica isn’t always caused by a pr*****ed disc—there are other conditions that can result in similar symptoms, including lower back and leg pain, numbness, or pins and needles. In this video, we explore non-disc-related causes of sciatica to help you better understand why your pain might persist and how to address it.

Here is the link to my other sciatica video as mentioned. This covers the most common cause of sciatica. https://youtu.be/SqaviJNOrw4

Helpful Products: The 8 Ball
This is a firm foam device which is particularly good for working out those tight knotty areas of the body – particularly large areas like the back or thighs. You can lie over it on the floor for your back, or stand against it on a wall – good for between the shoulder blades. Another ‘popular’ area for rolling is the Iliotibial band (side of the thigh). This can also be done on the floor or against a wall and involves a bit of awkward positioning and maybe a few teardrops, but well worth it afterwards.
The 8 ball comes in a couple of different sizes and firmness.

The Sacro-iliac Joint is a common cause of low back and leg pain. Often felt when moving from sitting to standing, and when straightening up. Pain from this joint responds well to taking load off it and gently encouraging movement in pain-free directions, i.e. gentle side bending, bend forward and back, and leg movements. It can be persistent, if you're experiencing these symptoms get in touch to find out what you can do to start getting relief today. 416 0677

Not sure when to use Ice or Heat?
The simple answer is use Ice for the periphery (arms and legs), and use heat for the neck and back. Ice helps to reduce swelling around joints, heat helps to soften muscles which are in spasm and limiting movement. Both are helpful in diminishing pain perception.

My Video is about the subject of lower limb biomechanics and their relationship to knee pain when running. The video is a guide to how you can check whether lower limb biomechanics may be a causative factor when experiencing knee pain when running.
I describe what biomechanics is, the three main sites of interest with lower limb biomechanics, and how you can check these yourself. This can be helpful when experiencing knee pain which has come on for no apparent reason and you are trying to find out what may be causing it, and more importantly how to stop it.
If you're suffering with knee pain with running or exercise and want to find out how to get moving comfortably again message me to arrange a chat.
