๐ฆ Japanese Study Group Recap๐ฆ Counting in Japanese! ๐
Today, we learned how to count different objects and people in Japanese. In Japanese, we often use special counting words called counters.
โจ Here are the counters we practiced:
ใ (ko) โ used for many small objects
Example: 1 = ใฒใจใค, 2 = ใตใใค, 3 = ใฟใฃใคโฆ
ใใค (satsu) โ used for books or magazines
Example: 1 book = ใใฃใใค / 1 magazine = ใใฃใใค
ใพใ (mai) โ used for flat objects (stickers, paper, plates)
Example: 3 plates = ใใใพใ
ใซใ (nin) โ used to count people
โ ๏ธ 1 person (ใฒใจใ) and 2 people (ใตใใ) are special words!
From 3 people: 3 = ใใใซใ, 9 = ใใ
ใใซใ
We practiced writing and speaking all the counter forms to get used to the rhythm of Japanese numbers!
๐ Activity Time!
We played a fun balloon toss game to review the numbers out loud.
(Itโs just like our Level 1 game โ but this time with balloons instead of stuffed toys!)
Everyone worked together and kept the balloon in the air while counting in Japanese. Super fun!
๐ Why learning counters is important
Helps in real-life situations: shopping, ordering food, classroom items, counting friends!
Makes Japanese sound more natural and correct.
Builds confidence in speaking and helps remember numbers faster.
Prepares us for future lessons. There are many more counters in Japanese!
