This is one of those small habits almost everyone has… and hardly anyone questions. Sitting down to eat and automatically reaching for a fizzy drink feels normal — but digestion is a delicate process, and timing matters more than we’re taught.
Your stomach acid is meant to be strong. That’s how food gets broken down properly and nutrients are absorbed. When carbonated drinks enter the stomach during a meal, the carbon dioxide can temporarily reduce acidity. For some people, that shows up as bloating, heaviness, sluggish digestion, or feeling unsatisfied even after eating 🍽️.
This isn’t about fear or restriction. Sparkling water, champagne, or soda aren’t the enemy — it’s just about when you have them. Many bodies handle carbonation far better between meals, when digestion isn’t already working hard.
Simple shifts that support digestion 🌿
• Choose still water with meals
• Enjoy fizzy drinks between meals instead
• Slow down and chew food properly
• Notice how your body feels after different combinations
• Let digestion do what it’s designed to do
Sometimes better health comes from awareness, not sacrifice.
