International Yoga Day

A small gathering in our shala to practice and honor the teachings of Yoga.

The gentle practices today were encouraged by India via the High Comm in Wellington to move and breath in a calm and simple manner.

I think we all enjoyed and we look forward to another year of beautiful Yoga.

Today we blessed the new ocean side shala with a divine meditation lead by Ana.

It was warm with the sounds of the wild ocean creating just the perfect setting for meditating.

I Am retreat day.

Delving into the ancient philosophy of the Koshas, a concept of the layers of our Being outlined in the Upanishads, we went from physical to subtle

Our journey inward to anandamaya Kosha, Bliss, encountered visits to ourselves through the ages. Giving us time to reflect on who we were then and who we are now.

In this way we could explore the philosophy of both non-duality (we are not the body nor the mind..) & duality,our human self & our self as supreme reality.

Yoga is SO much more than the physical postures as we tend to flow them together or spend too much time on musculoskeletal alignment.

The other limbs of yoga ask us to explore so much more than asana but that we can use the body to access the subtle pathways that enable safe and beautiful meditation

This is how we “retreat” at Sukha, it is not indulging in pampering, it may bring up emotions stuck in the most gross layer of the “food body” BUT the science of ta**ra and teachings of the Sutras entwined in Hatha will begin to show you the way. This to me is a Retreating time spent.

Taking our time to go deep within the layers of who we think we are to who we really are!

Let’s immerse ourselves for the day and enjoy the practices that assist in the discovery to realize the self, understand the self and to experience the self.

Bring journal for written reflections during tea break time and a parry and pillow for meditation bolstering if needed.

Come and join me for a divine morning together.

As we approach silly season our timetable will be reduced BUT all classes will all be as special if not more special as we wrap up 2024!

One month OFF is coming, but of course i know youl all be doing your regular home practice 😂 but if not then dont panic im planning some lovely random opportunities to get together.

So watch this space as Reiki courses and meditation retreats are coming up soon 🌺

The Journey from Survival to Self Nourishment...

2001 single mum life hit hard... and so it began!

2003 Low paid Fitness Instructor part time with two small kids, pretty tough times but forever happy with my babies, lessons taught me how little we need when we have the love of our babies.

2005 Began working as a Personal Trainer out there alone with few clients at the long time established Remuera Rackets Club. But won National nabba champs Novice Figure Tall. The bodybuilding career and PT career began!

2004-2013 Though times were hard I managed to Compete in 28 bodybuilding shows some overseas and somehow many medals were had ;) Competing grounded me and actually kept life simple. The community became like family to me and many great freinds were made. I still have these friends and some incredible memories plus most of all the experiences that made me who I was as a mentor, a coach, a trainer, a bodyworker, a one-on-one listener!
