Energy vampires

Just as they exist in life amongst people, they exist in other forms too.
For our Whare Rongoā, the energy vampire is the kettle/hot water jug.
We don't see this if the whare is connected to the grid. It's taken for granted and is translated into dollars on your bill.
Off the grid, there's no hiding.
Our whare shelter us but that doesn't mean that we take it for granted. Next time you boil the jug for a tea or coffee, ask yourself if you REALLY need it, or are you just enabling an energy vampire?

Rongoā ki tātou, rongoā ki rātou, rongoā katoa.
Our lessons learned during te tau o Takurua.
Be mindful of your impacts on the world.

Our new tāonga hanging in the whare rongoā. It helps give the space an authentic feel. What's more authentic than a piece created by our own Kuikui. He tāonga o naianei, he tāonga a mua.

Whare are built with intention. Our whare rongoā was built for the purpose of healing our whānau. Providing a safe space away from the cacophony of modernity (the chaos of the modern world) so whānau can take time and space to listen, feel, and see their next step in te ao mārama. Some people have a 'Bach' or 'holiday home' where they'll party, get drunk, and run a muck. Our whare rongoā is for the opposite. The intention is within the name. Watch the video below for an example of a beautiful wharenui built with intention.
Mauri ora e te whānau.

Mama and I traveled to Rotorua to watch my Hineroa Ariria Huia compete in Waka Ama; her roopu came 3rd in Aotearoa. Then returned to Mōkau to recuperate and realign before heading to Whaitara. We are water people; the water invigorates and heals us.
Ngā mihinui to Aunties Rangi and Hine, and cuzzy Merehira for having us at your whare. He piko he whānau, he piko he whānau.
Mauri ora.

One of the many pae experienced at Ngā hua paepai. The gifts of great horizons. One of the meanings. The ever changing horizons can provide peace of mind and body, and can inspire deep korero and thought. The healing effects of the sky are different for everyone, but it works. Hence the name; Ngā hua paepai.

Kia ora e te whānau. Nau mai ki te pukamata o Te Whare Rongoā ki ngā hua paepai. This whare was built with the intention of being a place of rongo te ātua, and all things associated with our ātua. A kaupapa māori space designated to healing. We have taken our time to set the mauri and kawa before opening up to our wider whānau. The whare is called Te Whare Rongoā and the whenua is called Ngā Hua Paepai.
I will post videos outlining the kawa and tikanga of the whenua and whare when you're here.
Ngā mihi, nā Tama.
