Meet the artist behind Tau Atu E!

We are proud to present Tau Atu E!, an exhibition by Bethany Matai Edmunds (Ngāti Kuri).

Although Bethany grew up away from the Far North and her artistic journey has taken her around the world, six years ago she returned home to Muriwhenua with her whānau. This exhibition marks a powerful homecoming — a reconnection, a landing, a tau atu.

This is the first time Bethany has shared her mahi toi with her own Far North community, and we are honoured to host this moment at Ka Uri. Tau Atu E! is a celebration of identity, place, and community — showcasing authentic Māori art, lived stories, and the creative mahi Bethany also carries out alongside her whānau through kaupapa that uplift our tamariki and community wellbeing.

Come and meet the artist, experience the kōrero within the mahi, and help us celebrate this special return home.
