It takes courage and determination to be different, to do things that make you feel good and to make choices that are right for you.

Don’t lose precious moments and opportunities.

Start making choices that are right for you, give up on pleasing others at your cost.

Take the courage to start making the right food choices that make you thrive, movement choices that make your heart sing or simply spending 1/2 an hour a day enjoying your space doing what you love.

We only have one life, so it’s important to have the courage to make choices that are right for you.

Focus on Fat loss - Not Weight loss

You now know that focusing on fat loss is much more important than focusing on your weight. When you lose body fat, you're making permanent changes in your body, shifting your body composition so that you have less fat and more muscle.

When you lose weight, you could be losing water or even muscle. It's impossible to know if you're seeing real results or just the product of your daily habits, hormonal shifts, and changing hydration levels.

When you first start a program, you may need extra encouragement to keep going, proof that what you're doing is working and the scale may not give you that.

At this time of year we hear over and over “that I need to lose weight”.

Most of us know how much we weigh. We talk about weight, think about weight and sometimes, lie about weight, but how often do we think about what that number on the scales mean?

For many of us, weight isn't just a number but something that can actually change how we feel about ourselves.

But, what does your weight really mean and how useful is it when it comes to tracking weight loss progress? Learning the answers to this question may just have you tossing out your scale forever.

Tip 1: Focus on Fat Loss, Not Weight Loss

When you talk about losing weight, what you really mean is slimming down. But slimming down doesn't always mean losing weight.

It may sound odd, but it's possible to get thinner without actually seeing a change in your weight. This happens when you lose body fat while gaining muscle. Your weight may stay the same, even as you lose inches, which is a sign that you're moving in the right direction.

Knowing the difference between losing weight and losing body fat can change how you get results and may even change how you look at your own body.

January is done and dusted, so now is a the perfect time to review how month one of this new year went. Did it go to plan? Did you do what you wanted to do? Or have you fallen 100% into that old routine??

Have you told yourself that - I will just get this out of the way then I will start eating right, moving right and tweaking my lifestyle so that I am not totally worn out come the weekend?

Does this sound like you? Well the good news is you have 11 months left in this year.

Are you going to waste another month by coming up with excuses, or are you going to move out of your comfort zone to change.

A little phrase I like is: if you’re not willing to change, no one can help you. If you’re determined to change, no one can stop you.

It might not look like much of a Cardio HIIT session, but when you haven’t done cardio sessions for a long time, it’s a great start 😊

Knee rehab is a slow building process, one week left of a strength work only, then to add in the HIIT session.

Now that we are getting back into our routines it is a timely reminder to think about what you want to achieve this year.

A few things to think about.

Cardio and strength training are important as the more muscle you have the more efficiently your metabolism will work to burn fat.

Muscle outweighs fat.

Want to drop weight, think about what kind of weight you want to lose. 5kg of fat or 5kg on the scales?

This is where measurements and regular photos rule, as scales will not accurately tell you if you’re losing fat.
