Resistance/strength training is it for you?

I love this type of training it’s a powerful tool that offers a wealth of benefits, from sculpting strength and muscle tone to boosting mental health, relieving stress, and enhancing balance.

By incorporating it into your routine, you'll not only feel more confident in your daily life, tackling tasks like carrying groceries, climbing stairs, or tending to your garden with ease, but you'll also experience a metabolism boost and increased bone density.

As you start or restart your journey, consider consulting a personal trainer to ensure you're getting the most out of your workouts with proper form.

Hey crew, being Paula's workout buddy is a real treat 🐶

I've been dragging her to the gym kicking and screaming, but today she said let's ditch the weights for a bike ride and run, and shockingly she showed up!

It was more of a leisurely stroll for me, but apparently, it was Paula's idea of a workout olympics.

Anyway, have a fantastic week from me, Olly 🐶

Have a great week from me as well.

What kind of rest day do you lean towards - an active recharge or a laid-back unwind?

Are one of these approaches more effective than the other? 🤔

How many rest days do you schedule in your week?

I prioritise two rest days, using my mid-week break to stay active with outdoor chores, household tasks, dog walks, and leisurely bike rides, including a coffee run.

On weekends, my rest day is all about relaxation - catching up on reading, taking a drive, or spending quality time with friends.

Both types of rest days play a crucial role in preparing me for my next workout, which is why I believe rest days truly matter and shouldn't be skipped.

With Easter over and my goals reviewed, I have taken the bull by the horns and gotten back into moving forward.

My fitness routines over the last 6 months have been on the fly, but overall I managed to maintain good fitness levels.

This week has been all about getting back into resistance training and settling into new routines.

It's remarkable that a quarter of the year has elapsed.

Unlike previous years, I didn't establish specific goals for 2026, aside from focusing on cherishing each day with my mum.

Regrettably, her passing in January occurred sooner than anticipated.

Life's unforeseen events can significantly alter our trajectory and emotional state, often causing us to reassess our priorities.

After dedicating a few months to settling my mum's affairs, I've come to realize that her passing has changed my life significantly.

This Easter break, I took some time to review the goals I set in 2025.

While some were accomplished, others fell away due to life circumstances, accepting that we won't always meet our goals within the timeframes we set, and recognizing that flexibility with timelines is essential.

I'm looking forward to re-establishing routines, making informed life choices, and approaching the remainder of the year with renewed purpose and strategic intentions.

How is the rest of the year looking for you?

Is your Easter break unfolding well? I'm seizing the opportunity to tackle lingering tasks that have been calling for my attention, making for a refreshingly productive weekend.

Craving hot chips, but with none nearby, I've took charge and whipped up my beloved polenta cheese chips instead.

Making extra to freeze for later is a bonus.

It's been too long since my last post, and I'm reminded that time is flying by - we're already a quarter of the way through the year!

With Easter weekend on the horizon, let's take this opportunity to pause, reflect, and recharge.

Often, we get caught up in the daily grind and forget to prioritize the things that bring us joy and fulfillment. Use this weekend to reset and do what nourishes your mind, body, and soul.

Whether it's curling up with a good book, savoring a cup of coffee with friends, or simply taking a well-deserved rest, give yourself permission to let go of the hustle and bustle. By doing so, you'll return to your daily life refreshed, revitalized, and ready to tackle new challenges with renewed energy and purpose.

Here’s a wee quick refreshing snack I like to have now and again.

Give it a try, three ingredients and a bit of freezer time!

Happy New Year everyone x it's great to be back!

As we begin a new year, I want to challenge the traditional approach to New Year's resolutions.

Instead of focusing solely on goals like losing weight, joining a gym, or eating better, let's take a step back and ask ourselves, what's truly holding us back?

What's causing our fatigue, low energy, and struggles throughout the day?

Have you ever heard of energy vampires?

They're the small, often overlooked habits that drain our energy, such as poor food choices, excessive caffeine and alcohol, dehydration, lack of sleep, and too much screen time.

This year, let's focus on identifying and tackling these energy vampires.

By doing so, we'll be empowered to make positive changes that will have a lasting impact on our overall well-being.

And remember, taking care of yourself is essential, so be sure to prioritize your own needs and make time for self-care.

When we have abundant energy, we're capable of achieving great things.

So, let's start the new year with a renewed focus on our own well-being and make this year our best one yet!

Hi everyone, my name is Olly and I am Paula’s new workout buddy.

So far I like the balance board, not so keen on the slant squat board, but I definitely like posing🐶.

Have a great week and enjoy your workouts this week.
