Are you worried weight training will make you bulky?

Almost 100% of the time, this isn't going to happen.

You would have to be consuming a lot of calories, training multiple times a day and potentially be taking performance enhancing drugs to get anywhere near the size of She Hulk.

The majority of women can lift heavy weights and not worry about getting bulky. Obviously we all have our exercise preferences. Mine is definitely to weight train, as I love the challenge and all the additional benefits it gives me. If you prefer sticking to cardio, all power to you.

But, if you have been avoiding weights, because you're worried how it will effect your body, then I challenge you to give them a go. See what happens. You might just find a new favorite way to exercise.

If you want to build strength then you need to be brave an start using a challenging weight.

I see many women sticking to light weights and high repetitions in the gym. For sure you will feel a crazy burn from doing this, but you'll struggle to build strength.

Choose a weight that challenges you by the end of your set. It should naturally slow you down. Make sure you can still maintain good form while doing this.

What exercise do you need to increase your weights on???

I get asked this question a lot at the gym. In general aiming for 3x per week for most people is a good amount to aim for.

However, if you're just starting at the gym and you haven't been working out at all. Then jumping straight into 3x per week might seem a bit much. In this case anything is going to be better than not going at all.

Start with what you can commit to right now and build on it from there.

How many times per week works for you???

How to: Warm up at the gym.

Before throwing those weights around or going crazy on the cardio, make sure you warm up properly.

A cold body is more prone to injury when working out. So make sure you are warm and mobile before getting into it. Your body will thank you!

Short answer, no.

Other people are at the gym for the same reason you are. To work on themselves. To build fitter and stronger bodies. To feel better about themselves, etc.

Everyone in the gym with you has been new to the gym at some point and probably had the exact same worry. I used to think the same way, and came to the realisation that:

1. Nobody knew I was new to the gym except me. The only way they could find out is if I went around telling them 🀣

2. Everyone else was focused on what they were doing. Headphones on, music blaring. The only time people will notice you is if you don't tidy up after yourself 🀬

3. Maybe if I just focused on what I was doing I'd get more out of my workouts. When I shifted my attention to what I was doing I got better at my workouts and more confident with the movements I was learning.

Once I made this perception shift I started really enjoying the gym. It's a space I can work on both my mind and body without judgement.

You can start small with this. Stick to a routine you are confident with, or claim a space in the gym and slowly expand out over time. You'll soon realise that everyone is focused on their own workout and not yours.

Have you ever worried about this???
