Learn to do push ups with me!šŸ”„

This is the easiest method to learn.

Having incredible upper body strength makes working out so much more fun, boosts confidence, improves posture & technique, & makes doing daily tasks around the home so much easier!

Here is my 6 phase method I used to master push ups with the strongest technique.

1. Slow negatives on knees (5 secs to lower, repeat 10x)

2. Concentric holds on knees (hold 5 secs, repeat 10x)

3. Concentric holds knees raises (hold 5 secs, repeat 10x)

4. Slow negatives knees raises (5 secs to lower, repeat 10x)

5. Push ups on knees (to failure 3x 60 secs rest in between)

6. Full push ups (to failure 3x 60 secs rest in between)

Do this 3-4 times weekly and watch yourself progress fast.

Do one step only until you’ve nailed it and ready to move on.

Important technique tips:

1. Keep elbows close to body the whole time, don’t let them flare to the sides (makes it easier but you’re not helping yourself)

2. As you push back up in the concentric part of the movement, brace your scapula & shoulders, don’t lead up with your chest puffed out

3. Don’t lock your elbows, keep them slightly bent

4. Keep glutes squeezed

5. Keep hips neutral, don’t let them sink

6. Engage your abs

What does your grocery shop look like?

Here’s some tips when grocery shopping if you want to make healthier choices:

ā˜ļø You want to make sure you’re getting clean sources of protein, complex carbs, fibrous fruit & veggies and healthy fats

ā˜ļøMake whole foods the bulk of groceries

ā˜ļøKeep it simple and make it similar every week

ā˜ļøHave an idea of the meals you might eat during the week so you can stock up and not have to go back and be tempted to buy things you don’t need

ā˜ļø Avoid grocery shopping when you’re hungry 😁😫

If I started working out all over again as a complete beginner, knowing what I know, these are the most important tips I would give myself.

1. It’s not always going to be easy, and it shouldn’t be easy. If it is, there’s no challenge and no growth.

2. Most of the pain is mental. The mindset you go into a workout with is how you will experience it.

3. Not every day will be the same, some days you’ll feel fantastic, others not so great. Learn to accept that’s just how it is with everything.

4. You have to adjust your thinking to wanting to workout and getting to workout, to optimise your health.

For me, it’s a non negotiable, never ending part of my life that I’m grateful I get to do.

It’s never been a short term challenge or chore I dread doing every day.

If you can view health and fitness this way, you have no choice but to succeed.

Workouts don’t need to be long to be effective, thats not how it works.

You also don’t need a gym, or loads of equipment to build muscle, and get strong and defined.

Short, home workouts is how I’ve built my physique, and how I maintain it.

Some examples: Dumbbell HIIT workouts, calisthenics/bodyweight workouts, Pilates with and without dumbbells, wall Pilates, mobility training.

Performing a combination of these throughout the week will help build strength, muscle, assists fat loss, endurance, flexibility, coordination, balance and conditioning.

Stay consistent with anything, and you will get results.
