Te Whē Wānanga
with Māmā Mihirangi Te Whē:

The Atua of Vibration & Sound
Awakening Your Gifts - through the Whakapapa of Vibration & Sound

Mihirangi is a Tohunga o Te Whē, an artist, musician, and facilitator of wānanga rooted in the vibrational whakapapa (genealogies) of Io. Her life has been a journey of returning home - to her Tūpuna, to traditional Whare Wānanga o Io, and to the spiritual pathways that have guided her since childhood.
Raised in a world of waiata, performance, and tikanga, on a farm in Mangapeehi and at Rereahu Marae, Mihirangi grew up immersed in culture and surrounded by Kaumātua and Kuia, Elders and
teachers.

This wānanga applies Te Whē - the Māori cosmology of vibration and frequency, to enable participants to explore sound and vibration as pathways to the gifts of sight, healing, divination and creation. It oﬀers insight into how the whakapapa of vibration ﬂows through the elements, the environment, and the human form as a responsive expression of Io - Creator & Creation.

Many of you may have chanted before. If not, these mantras have the power to connect you to the feeling of energy and presence within.

Kirtan is sung call and response. It is an opportunity to come together with our voices and enjoy the feeling and energy created through sacred chant.

We are excited to introduce kai rongoā Ana Masiu of Te Wairua Ora and Whakapakari Ora will be offering a special workshop at Aroha Flow Retreat 6th - 8th February 2026.

In this session, we will work with kopakopa (plantain) — a gentle, soothing rongoā known for drawing out heat, calming irritation, and supporting skin healing. Ana will guide you through:

🌱 Kōrero about kopakopa and its healing properties

🫙 How to make a plant-infused oil

💛 How to blend wax to create your own rongoā balm

✨ Taonga pūoro to open and close the space with grounding and wairua

This wānanga is all about reconnecting — to the whenua, to the plants, and to ourselves. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re completely new to rongoā or already on your journey.

We are delighted to share that Krystal Shih of Kinesphere will be with us at Aroha Flow Retreat at Waitangi weekend.

Krystal is the heart and energy behind Kinesphere. Kinesphere was born from a desire to support others in remembering their innate capacity to heal.

She sees her role as being one of holding space, witnessing with care, and gently guiding you back to the wisdom of your body.
This is through Usui Reiki and Soul Journey Hypnotherapy.

Another important branch of Krystal's offerings are Spirit Mists and Oils that are designed to support your energy and emotional bodies. They are hand blended with a deep reverence for the powerful plant essences that make these blends so special.

We have tried these Spirit Mists and wholeheartedly recommend them!

PhoenixZen Massage 🐦‍🔥

PhoenixZen Massage is the heart-led healing practice of Ōtautahi based wāhine, Camille Broughton.

Descended from a long line of healers from Taranaki, Camille’s intuitive touch is guided by the healing energies that flow from her maunga, Koro Taranaki - the mauri of the whenua and awa flows through her hands.

Pararakiteuru is her puna, a life-force with healing waters that she channels, and Tīwakawaka serves as her kaitiaki, guiding and protecting her work.

At Aroha Flow, Camille will be offering intuitive, trauma-informed massage designed to soothe the nervous system, release deep tension, and reconnect souls with their wairua.

Each session unfolds intuitively, guided by the body’s needs in the moment, blending grounding pressure, mirimiri-inspired touch, breath awareness, and gentle energetic clearing.

Jenine Kerr is a sound practitioner, yoga teacher, Bodyworker, and founder of Nine Healing Arts. Guided by the Gong Master lineage, she works with the gong as a field of resonance that supports deep rest, nervous-system regulation, and inner clarity. Her sessions weave breathwork, the Golden Ratio, yin and restorative yoga, and intuitive movement with the living fullness of gong tone to invite a return to presence and embodied ease.

Aroha Flow Wānanga Announcement ✨️

Tiana Te Moana

Of Rongoa nga Mata 🌿

Tiana is a Rongoā practitioner and kaiako based here in Ōtautahi.
She is Tūhoe and is from the Te Urewera region in Te Ika-a-Māui. (North Island of Aotearoa).

Tiana is a long-time tauira of Maramataka, the traditional Māori lunar calendar. As a kaitiaki (guardian) of
te taiao (the natural environment) she shares her knowledge and kōrero on Maramataka to encourage us to have a deep respect for the environment and an understanding of the
interconnectedness of all living things.

At Aroha Flow, Tiana will guide us on an evening Maramataka wānanga under the starlit sky. We can't wait! ✨️

Tiana and her whānau are long-time supporters of Aroha Essence Festival and have also been part of our wāhine circles at
Goddess Gatherings By The Sea, our beach cleans, and Matariki Celebrations.
We are delighted to have them back with us at Waitangi weekend.
