Continuing on from the last post, this week we discuss hypermetropia. Hypermetropia is also called long-sightedness. When the light enters your eye it's being focused behind instead of on the retina. This causes you to find reading difficult but you can see objects far away fine. This can be corrected with prescription glasses.

Sorry for the delay in posting- the start of this year has been busy! This February I thought we might cover some of the more common eye conditions. The first one is Myopia. Myopia is also called near-sightedness. In this condition, the light coming into your eye will focus in front of the retina instead of on it. This means you can read well but struggle to see objects in the distance. This can be corrected with prescription glasses.

Glaucoma is when there is a pressure build up in your eyes. They can become very painful. In time this will damage your optic nerve and cause vision loss or blindness. Other symptoms include: redness, seeing rainbows or halos, nausea, and vomiting. However, sometimes in the very early stages you don’t know you have it. We routinely test all our patients for glaucoma as part of our pre-screening process before your eye test.
