NZ Warriors supporter Ross recently completed his 100th lifesaving donation at NZBlood’s Lester Lane centre. There’s no bandwagon support of the Wahs from Ross and family – they are committed to the core! The same goes for being lifesaving donors, with son Jacob also notching up plenty of donations. A proud moment for two absolute legends. Congratulations and thank you for being lifesavers!

Up the Wahs!

Big Shoutout to Barangay Aquila-Prescilla!

The incredible Barangay Aquila-Prescilla team showed their big hearts and unity when they stepped up to donate lifesaving blood this week.

8 of the 9 donors from this amazing Christian fellowship were first-time donors! That’s a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose, to help save lives.

Thank you Barangay Aquila-Prescilla for being lifesavers!

Regular plasma and platelet donor Russell makes the trip across the Southern Alps from Charleston to Christchurch to donate every 1-2 months. Inspired to start donating by his father, then later when a family member needed treatment with donated blood products, Russell literally does go the extra mile to save lives! “It’s a spectacular drive through Lewis Pass. I never get tired of it. And I get well looked after by the NZBlood staff,” he said. Big thanks for being a lifesaver Russell and congratulations on recently notching up your 55th donation. Legend!

Are you aged between 18 and 35? Could you be the match that saves Mea’s life?

Joining the Bone Marrow Donor Registry is as easy as 4 mouth swabs and a consent form. We collect your HLA typing via swab and set you up on the International Registry. If you are match to a patient, you may be able to save a person’s life.

You can either join at your next blood donation or visit Home » New Zealand Bone Marrow Donor Registry for more information.

It was June 2022 and the whole family had come down with the flu and recovered, but 8-year-old Mea Richards’ symptoms persisted.
