Group giving generosity!

The amazing team from Jesus Is Lord Church, Christchurch, New Zealand visited NZBlood again with another large group of new and returning donors. When it comes to group giving, these cheerful folks don’t mess around. This time 38 members of their congregation came to donate, united as a church family, ready to make a difference. Plus they’ve already booked monthly visits throughout 2026 – incredible!

Since beginning their group giving journey early in 2025, multiple groups from the Jesus is Lord Church whānau have showed up to save lives. Each group has been a welcome mix of whole blood donors and plasma donors including straight-to-plasma donors.

A huge thank you to the incredible Jesus is Lord community - your generosity truly saves lives! Together, your donations have helped give hope and healing to around 470 people. What an amazing impact!

Saturday appointments available!

On Saturday 17 January we have plasma appointments available at our Lester Lane donor centre.

That’s in addition to plenty of Monday to Friday appointments too.

Your plasma donation can:
- treat up to 50 illnesses
- make up to 11 lifesaving treatments
- be donated more frequently than blood, every 2 weeks
- be donated in between donating blood
- be used to boost the immune system of people with low levels of antibodies
- provide clotting factor concentrates for people with bleeding disorders.

Sri Lankan lion reaches 200!
Canterbury based donor Chaminda has achieved 200 plasma donations.
That’s 200 moments of kindness and 200 heroic gestures for people across the nation.
What a legend! 🔥

We believe that Chaminda is the first Sri Lankan to reach 200 donations in New Zealand.

This year, together we achieved incredible milestones:
✅ 4,435 donations collected on average every week across Aotearoa
✅ Over 50,000 biscuits enjoyed by our lifesaving donors
✅ More than 100 volunteers supporting us across the South Island
✅ 141,261 people donated with us Nationally – WOW!

Emergency worker one week, lifesaving donor the next. 👏
New Zealand Police Team Red member Andrew has just completed his 150th plasma donation at our Addington Donor Centre! Andrew came in with his colleagues, who also donate regularly, and humbly brushed off this incredible milestone.

Canterbury Police has over 120 members who donate plasma, blood, and platelets. Together, they’ve helped save approximately 5,075 lives!

Thank you, Andrew, and the entire NZ Police team for your unwavering commitment to saving lives.

Cheers to our volunteers!
Big thanks to NZBlood’s amazing volunteers who give their time (and big smiles!) providing refreshments and after donation care to our equally amazing donors. We are privileged to have such wonderful support at our donor centres and mobile blood drives.

Volunteers provide the “cherry on top” of every donation, playing a vital role, and we’re so grateful for everything they do!
