Our beautiful Jadah and Te Awanuiārangi - it has been an honour to watch your journey and hear your whakaaro on motherhood ❤️

As we wrap up World Breastfeeding Week, we’re honoured to share the heartfelt kōrero of Jadah, one of the beautiful māmā in Te Oriori and Pūmotomoto . Her words remind us that breastfeeding is not just nourishment — it’s connection.✨

“Breastfeeding for me is a special part of my parenting experience and helped me build a deep connection with my pēpi. Breastfeeding gives me a quiet space to bond with my pēpi. The little sighs, eye contact, warm snuggles, and sleepy feeds are memories I’ll cherish forever.”

Thank you, Jadah, for sharing your journey and reminding us of the intimacy, strength, and aroha in these everyday moments. 🌺

We love Siobhan and the heart that she brings to our kaupapa! We are very lucky to have you as part of our team! ❤️

We love Siobhan and the heart that she brings to our kaupapa! We are very lucky to have you as part of our team! ❤️

As part of World Breastfeeding Week, we’re sharing insights from the amazing wāhine who support our māmā every day.

Today, Siobhan 🩺, a registered nurse with Pūmotomoto, shares a few gentle reminders and breastfeeding tips for māmā 👩‍🍼 —especially those just starting out:

💬 “When you breastfeed, you release a hormone called oxytocin that helps you feel calm and connected to your baby.”

💬 “Breast milk is perfect for your baby—it contains vitamins and minerals and is always available. It offers protection from certain infections and improves your baby’s long-term health.”

💬 “Any amount of breastfeeding is beneficial.”

💬 “Babies love to be close to you—skin to skin, hearing your heartbeat, and your smell all help them feel happy and content.”

Thank you, Siobhan, for your aroha and for empowering māmā with knowledge, encouragement, and care. 🌸

We appreciate the strength and resilience of all Mama, especially incredible wahine like Manaia ❤️ We honour the efforts of all parents to nurture your pepi in the way that is best for your whānau!

As World Breastfeeding Week continues, we're honoured to spotlight some of the incredible māmā in Te Oriori and Pūmotomoto and share their journeys with you. 💕

Today, we introduce Manaia—one of the beautiful māmā in our kaupapa. She shared this about her breastfeeding experience:

"Breastfeeding didn’t go how I thought it would. My boys were too small to breastfeed, so they were fed donor breastmilk by nasogastric tube at first. I ended up pumping to bring my milk in. It was a full-time job: pumping every three hours around the clock, then feeding two babies and starting the cycle again. It was exhausting, and way tougher than I expected to keep up my supply. I exclusively breastfed/pumped for four months before switching to formula feeding. I had to learn to put aside my expectations and do what worked for me and my babies, taking each day as it came.” 💬

Every journey is unique, and through sharing kōrero like Manaia’s, we celebrate the strength, love, and resilience of our māmā. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight more voices throughout the week. 🫶
