To my amazing followers,

Thank you all for your incredible support and kindness. Your messages, encouragement, and understanding have meant more to me than words can express.

Lately, it has been a very challenging journey. There have been a lot of mixed messages, uncertainty, and emotions to process, which has understandably taken a toll on my mental health at times. As many of you know, I am currently recovering from a UTI and kidney infection. While progress has been slow, I am continuing to move forward one day at a time.

I am hopeful that my appointment on 19 June will provide some much-needed answers and clarity about what is going on. Until then, I will continue focusing on my recovery and taking things as they come.

Thank you for standing by me throughout this journey. Your support gives me strength, and I am truly grateful for every one of you. ❤️

Health Update

I am now back home from the hospital after a long and challenging day.

After assessment and testing, I was diagnosed with a severe urinary tract infection related to my urostomy, along with a kidney infection. Due to being unable to keep food or fluids down for an extended period, I was also found to be extremely dehydrated.

While in hospital, I was placed on intravenous fluids to help restore my hydration levels and was started on antibiotics to treat the infections. Although I'm relieved to be back home, recovery won't happen overnight, and it is likely to take a few weeks before I'm feeling back to 100%.

For now, my focus is on resting, staying hydrated, taking my medication as prescribed, and allowing my body the time it needs to heal.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with messages, support, and well wishes. Your kindness and encouragement have meant a lot during what has been a difficult time. ❤️

One question I get asked quite often by medical staff is, "How do you provide a clean urine sample when you don't have a bladder?"

The answer isn't quite as simple as it might seem. While I can collect urine from my urostomy bag, that wouldn't provide a sterile sample. To obtain a clean specimen, I have to remove my bag, thoroughly clean around my stoma, and then wait for fresh urine directly from the stoma itself.

Today, despite still feeling unwell, with shaky legs and generally feeling quite off, I managed to do exactly that. It may sound like a small thing, but when you're already dealing with dehydration, pain, and ongoing tests, even simple tasks can become challenging.

Living with a urostomy comes with many realities that people don't often see or think about. This is just one of them.

One step at a time.

Health Update

Well, I made the decision to go to the hospital and get checked out, and what a day it has been.

After hours of waiting, I've had blood tests done
and the results have shown that I'm extremely dehydrated. The medical team is preparing treatment to help stop the vomiting, along with some pain relief to make things a little more manageable.

There are still more tests and assessments to come, so at this stage I'm taking things one step at a time and waiting to see what the next steps will be.

A huge thank you to my bro Michael Boskell for being here and looking after me throughout the day. Having good people by your side during times like this means more than words can express.

I'll provide another update when I know more. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with messages of support and concern it is genuinely appreciated. ❤️

Behind My Story

Behind my story is a boy who grew into a man through challenges, setbacks, and experiences that shaped who he is today.

My message is simple and clear: all disabilities matter.

Sharing my story isn't about seeking sympathy or attention. It's about showing the reality of life with disability the struggles, the pain, the uncertainty, and the battles that often go unseen. But it's also about resilience, determination, growth, and finding strength in the face of adversity.
Every scar, every setback, and every obstacle has become part of my journey. While the road hasn't always been easy, it has taught me the importance of perseverance, hope, and never giving up.

If my story can achieve one thing, I hope it encourages others to keep moving forward, no matter how difficult life may seem. We all face challenges, and sometimes the weight can feel overwhelming, but none of us have to face those struggles alone.

Life is hard, but together we can support one another, lift each other up, and remind each other that there is always hope. Together, we can get through this.

I'm really not doing well at the moment. I spent most of yesterday being sick and have been experiencing bleeding from my stoma since around 11am. Unfortunately, I've also been up all night feeling unwell and continue to be sick. The exhaustion is definitely starting to take its toll.

On a positive note, I received an email from the hospital yesterday. Thanks to the efforts of my doctors, they were able to push for me to be seen sooner, and I now have a hospital appointment scheduled for 19 June.

While I know it's not too far away, when you're feeling this unwell, it can feel like a very long time to wait. For now, I'm taking things one day at a time and hoping for some answers and a clear plan moving forward.

Health update on what I know at the moment.

Since the end of January, I’ve been experiencing ongoing pain in my lower abdomen that hasn’t gone away. I’ve had blood tests done, and the results have been quite inconsistent. I’ve also undergone a CT scan, which has shown there could potentially be a lump approximately the size of half a tennis ball.

Unfortunately, the pain has continued to increase over time. I contacted the Urology Outpatients department this morning, and while they advised they are currently a few months behind, they were able to confirm that they can see things are not looking too good. However, they were unable to provide any further information over the phone, and I will need to wait to be formally seen and assessed.

They have advised that if my symptoms continue to worsen, I should either see my doctor or present to the Emergency Department. I do have a doctor’s appointment scheduled for later this week, but at this stage I’m still uncertain about what the next steps will be.

For now, I’m doing my best to stay strong and carry on the best I can while waiting for more answers. Thank you to everyone who has continued to check in and support me during this time it truly means a lot.

We maybe in winter here in New Zealand but this is always something to keep an eye on.

☀️ HEAT WAVE WARNING ☀️

As temperatures rise, it’s extremely important for those living with a stoma to stay hydrated and take extra care in the heat. Having a stoma can increase the risk of dehydration, as the body may lose fluids and salts more quickly especially during hot weather.

💧 Remember to: • Drink small amounts regularly throughout the day
• Choose water or sugar-free drinks where possible
• Stay cool and avoid long periods in direct sun
• Take breaks and listen to your body
• Watch for signs of dehydration

⚠️ Signs to look out for: • Dry mouth or extreme thirst
• Dark urine or urinating less often
• Dizziness, headaches, or feeling light-headed
• Increased or watery stoma output
• Muscle cramps or unusual tiredness
If symptoms become severe or your stoma output remains high, please seek medical advice.

Your health comes first stay safe, stay cool, and stay hydrated this summer. 💙
