Join us for a chat on mental health in (Peri) menopause.
I am chatting with
Dr Stephanie Minchin of tomorrow Tuesday 29th 9:30am NZT
Monday 28th 8:30pm UK

The month of October is pretty special (well just like every other month) but this month, is Menopause awareness month and 10th October was Mental wellness day so my guest is in honour of these deeply connected topics.

She is a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher with over 15 years of experience working in mental health. Steph has authored several articles, research papers and a book chapter and co-founded the MoreMind project with MoreYoga. As a trainer and educator, Steph lectures for The Minded Institute, the UK’s leading Yoga Therapy school, and regularly delivers trainings and consultations to organizations nationwide.

Yoga and Psychology have a beautiful synergy as they both involve a process of reflection through compassionate self inquiry and work with the mind. So I thought why not invite her to have a chat.

We are specifically going to address the Psychological impact that women go through in Perimenopause, recognizing early signs to empower us to take proactive steps for mental wellness, the kosha system and much more

Have any questions let us know below or come online live in the chat!

Mental health becomes critical during this massive transition that women go through so all the support you can get is needed.

Meaning: Guru is truly the representative of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He creates, sustains knowledge and destroys the weeds of ignorance.
I salute such a Guru.

Today’s full moon we celebrate
Guru Purnima.
The full moon day when where we honour all the teachers in our life who have guided us, shown us unconditional love and taught us what we know in one way or another.

Paying respects to all my teachers recent and past, sisters who are teachers, friends who are teachers and my mum.

Happy Guru Purnima 🙏🏼✨🌸

No matter what you do your belly keeps expanding. It feels like your body fat is having a party at the midriff.

If you're a woman in your 40s or 50s battling a soft midriff and back pain, it's probably due to long work hours, poor posture, post-pregnancy bulge. Add to that the hormonal rollercoaster of perimenopause and you may be feeling low and helpless.

It is possible you've tried HRT hoping it was the silver bullet for weight gain.

You've had enough of extreme diets, and countless crunches, that are expensive, not sustainable and don't seem to work.

You feel alone and disheartened in this struggle. You are starting to question yourself and your abilities. It is impacting your confidence and your mental well-being.

It is time you take action and try something different.

Are you ready to overcome these challenges? Are you ready to rediscover your strength and confidence? Are you ready to make
yourself a priority?

Today is Buddha Purnima 🙏🏼✨

✨🙏🏼A picture of Kamakura Daibutsu (Great Buddha) in Tokyo with me Purnima

(If you zoom in the second pic you will see little baby Luke too)

Buddha Purnima is the biggest day for Buddhists because on this day, it is believed three important events of the Buddha’s life took place: his birth, his attaining enlightenment, and his death, Paranirvana. This day is known as Thrice Blessed Festival.

✨Celebrate today with reminding yourself of his teaching of the ‘Middle Way’

According to the Buddha, “There is a middle way between the extremes of indulgence and self-denial, free from sorrow and suffering. This is the way to peace and liberation in this very life.”

I clearly remember this day with the two kids being little we walked for ages to get to this great statue and I was desperate for a picture on my own without the crowds. But it is a busy tourist spot! When I gave up that desperation and surrendered to how it would be, suddenly we got a quiet moment and I got some pics!
Lessons learnt along the way.

I CELEBRATE 10 years of teaching yoga!
13th May 2014 I started my teacher training course with Total Yoga school in Bangalore with my teachers and
Some fond memories of those times to celebrate!
1. One last photo my teachers and 1 took before I left for NZ
2. My life in Bangalore, loved it!
3. Yoga gave me energy to keep up with my kids as a older mum
4. My yoga buddy Jaggi who used to drive me everyday to teacher training. Loved our chats
5. The studio in Bangalore and our favourite tree (you can see my palm on it somewhere!)
6. My last ever class teaching in Palm Medows before I left for NZ
7. One of the amazing yoga retreats we went on. This was on top of Triund trek
8. Cubbon park and outdoor yoga was one of our favourites
9. My teacher training group (Victoria, Jaggi, Ester and me)
10. All of my teacher training buddies in this picture including Sima Victoria, Jaggi, Ester

Beautiful memories!

Happy birthday to my Amma!
She is always with me every moment.
I still feel sad that she never met my children and she would have showered them with the gentle love she gave us.
I see so much of her in my daughter so she lives on.
A little story from my past. When I was mid 30s and had not yet met my husband and Indian society had written me off as ‘past the sell by date’ 🤣, my friend suggested I go to an astrologer.
This astrologer was amazing she asked me for my birth date and time and drew up a planet chart. She worked out a lot of what had happened in my life quite nicely.

Then she said,
“You won’t have children”
And it broke my heart! I started bawling my eyes out. Never did I realise I did want children.
So when I was Blessed to be a mother at 40 years old and then again at 43 both health, happy,
they are my little miracles!
It is the karmas of my parents and my ancestors that bless me and I in turn have to live a life to carry that on for my children and theirs ✨🤍
