I am excited to announce I will be joining the team!

Join me every Tuesday evening from November 18th 6-7pm for a slow paced, mindful Yin Yoga practice.

Suitable for all levels, our breath will guide us throughout and there will be opportunities to end class exploring gentle prāṇāyāma, intentional Yogic breath control.

I often get asked ‘how do you practice the same thing again and again? Don’t you get bored?’

In Ashtanga you practice set sequences, following a counted vinyasa, with particular drishti (gaze) and breath. It doesn’t have to be dogmatic but the structure is there to build from, in a culture of choice and overstimulation perhaps simplicity is important.

A steady practice takes time and often things happen, we overcommit and can’t keep up, we push too hard and this doesn’t benefit us. Sādhanā needs to be sustainable for you and your life. It is a fine balance between effort and non-attachment for a steady beneficial Yoga practice to happen.

Yoga is a sacred act of showing up for yourself, it is not just doing the same postures again and again, it’s about stilling the mind and connecting with self.

So my answer is, no I don’t get bored. Every day is different, every day there is something to observe, to learn, to return to.

I’m not saying don’t do anything else, but I am suggesting if you’d like to dive a little deeper into Yoga and so far it feels like you are struggling to commit perhaps choose a practice (it doesn’t have to be ashtanga, it could be other āsana, meditation, Prāṇāyāma) and start by repeating it 1-3 times a week.

Commit to this for a long period of time, see what happens.

Understanding Ahimsa and how to practice it.

There is so much I could say about Ahimsa, but I don’t want to overload with info. So here is a brief outline of what Ahimsa is and how we can bring this practice of Yoga on to our mat and off the mat.

I would love to hear other ways you notice Ahimsa comes up for you below. 👇

Yama, a way to practice Yoga on and off the mat. A layer of exploration to evolve your practice. 💚

I am going to slowly dive deeper into each of the eight limbs of Yoga and share how you can practice in many different ways that you might not have considered. I realise I’ve never really shared much about the eight limbs before on here, and honestly I’ve always thought there is already plenty of info on our there, so why bother sharing?

However, just as in an in-person Yoga āsana class I teach who I see in front of me, and notice the needs of my students, it feels the same way on here right now.

It feels like now more than ever people want to know more. To deepen our understanding and connection to not only ourselves, but to those around us, and I’m excited to share.

As a Yoga teacher it can be easy to forget that most students may not know the intricacies of these practices that are so ingrained into Yoga, especially with what is shared in the west. My aim is to make these practices easy to digest so you can begin adding them to your exisiting practices.

Which of the five Yamas jumped out to you?

I will be exploring each of these five soon. 💚

rituals, routines,
from the outside,
radiate in 🌺

I’ve been in California for a month or so now, and I am still waiting for my work permit to be processed. I like to be as honest as possible on here, because I know it looks like a holiday 😂 but moving countries has come with its challenges.

I intentionally try to create a work life balance, mostly with more of the living.

I’m reflecting on how in society being busy often equates to success, to feelings of achievement, and that when you are forced to just be, it can feel weird when you haven’t chosen it. We are unfortunately programmed to ‘do’ and I’m not free from this thinking.

Work can (and should) offer a place to share passion, connect to community, to help others and grow, and these are the parts I am missing right now.

Anyway, in times like this my rituals and small daily routines really help to ground me, give me the space to notice these thoughts and reflect that everything’s actually all good.🤟

-my morning coffee
-joining local Yoga studios
-cycling around exploring
-voice notes to friends
-writing in my journal/notes app
-self practice at home
-reading
-wearing cute little outfits (don’t underestimate the power of a cute little outfit) 🌺
-finding free activities

That’s all 🫶
