✍️ Stop shoulding on yourself! “I should call them.”, “I should go to that event.”, “I should be more productive.” Sound familiar?

“Should” often comes dressed as duty, but underneath, it’s usually guilt, fear, or old conditioning. Here's the truth: it’s okay to limit your obligations to things you want to do.
Want is lighter. Clearer. More alive. How can you tell it’s a want?
✨ You feel a spark of energy, not a weight of dread
✨ You imagine it and your body softens, not tenses
✨ You’re drawn to it, not dragged by it
✨ It aligns with your values, not just your habits
✨ You know the end result will bring you joy or satisfaction

Over the next few days, try swapping “I should” for a more self-caring attitude. “Do I want to?”, “Does this feel true for me?”, “Is this how I want to spend my time?”

Your time is precious. Let it be shaped by desire, not obligation.

Every “no” is a “yes" in disguise! This month, I've been exploring the importance of protecting our time for greater wellbeing. And, when you say no to something - a meeting, a favour, a commitment, a last-minute plan - you’re not just closing a door. You’re opening the space for wellbeing and happiness; you’re saying yes to rest, reflection, or purpose. Yes to the walk you needed, the book you’ve been meaning to read, the quiet moment that helps you feel like yourself again, or the task that will bring you closer to a inspired goal.

Protecting your time isn’t selfish, it’s sacred. So next time you hesitate to say no, pause and ask: what am I saying yes to instead?

Patience truly is a virtue (and it's one I've rarely found easy 😶). Researchers have found that people who regularly practice patience enjoy better mental health, experience fewer negative emotions, and foster a sense of mindfulness, gratitude, and connectedness in their lives.

🌸 So here's a gentle tip: impatience robs us of meaning and happiness from our present moment. It implies that 'now' is not as important as some future event. Remember, every moment of your life is precious, and - as difficult as it may be sometimes - patience helps us reconnect with the glorious possibilities of 'right here, right now'.

What will you give your attention to in the coming year? Oprah famously has her annual giving plan. What if we created an *attention* plan - an annual ritual to highlight what truly matters to us?

Each New Year’s Day, or on your birthday, take a quiet moment to ask: Where do I want my time to flow this year? What deserves my full-hearted yes? Then list the things that you choose to gift your attention to. It may be:
✔️ Yes to live music that stirs your soul
✔️ Yes to volunteering where your heart feels useful
✔️ Yes to slow dinners with ageing parents
✔️ Yes to laughter-filled gatherings with friends
✔️ Yes to solitude when your spirit needs quiet

Your attention is your most sacred resource, so keep this list visible and let it guide your schedule, your choices, and your pace.

Your time is sacred. Not just the hours blocked out for work or family but the quiet moments, the in-between spaces, the breath before the next thing.

Dr Kristin Neff’s concept of fierce self-compassion reminds us that being our own best friend isn’t always soft. Sometimes, it’s bold. Sometimes, it says:
“I don’t give away my time just because someone asks.”
“I don’t apologise for needing space.”
“I don’t let urgency override what matters most.”

Protecting your time is a radical act of self-care. It’s how you honour your energy, your rhythm, your purpose. So, let “I don’t have capacity right now” become part of your self-care vocabulary. Because your wellbeing depends on your ability to protect what's precious - including your time and your inner peace.

More time, less peace? 🌼 We have more leisure time than any generation before us, yet many of us feel rushed, scattered, and overscheduled. The truth is, spare time only nourishes us when we use it with intention.

Here are a few gentle, science-backed ways to use your downtime to enhance emotional and spiritual wellbeing:
🌿 Move with meaning, not just for fitness. Walk in nature, dance to music you love, or stretch slowly to regulate your nervous system and boost mood.
🌿 Write for release, or journal. Just 10 minutes a day of reflective writing can reduce anxiety and help you process emotions.
🌿 Connect deeply with others. Meaningful conversations, especially with people who listen well, can increase resilience and emotional clarity.
🌿 Create for the joy of it. Paint, doodle, sing, or cook something new. Creative expression activates joy centres in the brain and helps you reconnect with yourself.
🌿 Be still on purpose. Meditation, breathwork, or simply sitting in silence can restore your energy and sharpen your intuition. Even five minutes counts.

Leisure isn’t just time off, it’s time *in*. So choose what fills you, not just what fills the calendar.

Research shows that being authentic enhances our happiness, self-esteem, sense of purpose, emotional resiliance, and life satisfaction. Amazing, right? And the trick to authenticity is knowing and living out your *core values*.

To identify your core values, reflect on what matters most to you.
🦅 What principles guide your decisions?
🦅What brings you joy and fulfilment?
🦅What values would you most like society to uphold and reflect?

Once you’ve identified your values, authenticity is about living in accordance with them – even if this means setting healthy boundaries, making difficult decisions, or standing up for what you believe in. 🪶

The world needs you, in all your glory. Are you willing to thrive in authenticity?

Looking for an empowered way to say "no"? Don't!

For many of us, saying "no" can feel uncomfortable. But interestingly, research shows that using the word “don’t” can feel more empowering when declining an invitation or request. It shifts the focus from rejection to self-respect and highlights personal boundaries. Here's how to use it:

🌟 “I don’t check messages after 8 pm. I’ve found it helps me sleep better.”
🌟“I don’t take meetings on Fridays. That’s my creative reset day.”
🌟“I don’t say yes on the spot anymore. I give myself time to feel into it.”
🌟“I don’t drink during the week. It’s part of how I care for myself.”
🌟“I don’t rush decisions that affect my wellbeing. I move slowly, on purpose.”
🌟“I don’t take on extra projects this close to Christmas. I find it keeps my schedule in balance.”
🌟"I don't have the capacity right now, and my wellbeing is important to me."

Each phrase is a boundary wrapped in kindness and when we speak from that place, others often respond with more understanding than we expect. What’s one ‘don’t’ you’d like to claim this month? 🌼 Let me know in the comments below.

Time is one of our most precious resources, and yet it can so easily slip away. For instance, did you know adults spend an average of 2 hours and 23 minutes every day on social media? That’s nearly 850 hours a year! Imagine what could grow in that time… a creative project, a deeper connection, a stronger body, a clearer mind.

This isn’t about guilt, it’s about awareness. Could some of that time be reclaimed for something more nourishing? More aligned? More you?

Tomorrow, I'll share some tips on being conscious about your social media use. Be sure to like and/or leave a 🌟 in the comments if you'd like to reclaim more of your time.

Resilience is vital for wellbeing in an uncertain world, and research shows that *positive momentum* is the foundation of resilience. So, if you're feeling stuck, fragile, or uncertain, try:
🦋 Reflecting on a time in your past when you endured, rose above, and triumphed over one of life's challenges.
🦋 Committing to one small step forward - whether it be toward healing, momentum, connection, or growth. Just one thing. Today.
🦋 Applying self-compassion - be a loving friend to yourself.

Remember, resilience doesn't have to look pretty. Let yourself feel, be real and messy, and take tentative steps forward ... if that's what it takes.

You protect your prized possessions. You protect your loved ones. Do you protect your time?

In our modern world, busyness and overwhelm have a HUGE impact on our health and wellbeing. That's why it's wise to treat our time with a sense of sanctity and be more conscious about how/where we spend our moments.

As part of my exploration into life's natural tempo, I will spend the month of September delving into the ways we can protect our time, say no for wellbeing, and choose a self-care relationship with our schedule.
