Skin cancer is the most common cancer in New Zealand.
Each year, an estimated 90,000 non-melanoma skin cancers and around 2,800 melanomas are diagnosed.

Skin cancer can also affect the eyelids and peri-ocular region, where early detection and prompt treatment are critical. Left untreated, these lesions can become larger, more invasive, and more complex to reconstruct.

At Otago Vision Specialist, we are pleased to introduce Dr Rona Silkiss and Dr Mimi Chiu, our oculoplastic surgeons with specialised expertise in eyelid cancer management, reconstruction, and orbital surgery.

📨 Referrals for eyelid lesions and reconstruction can be sent via ERMS / Healthlink.

What a weekend! Our Winter CPD in Queenstown on Saturday was a great success and we’d like to thank everyone who attended in-person and online. Our lovely speakers Dr Sheng Chiong Hong, Dr Mimi Chiu, Dr Erica Doucet, and Dr Ammar Binsadiq presented various topics on their respective specialties to attendees who travelled from all across the motu to join us. We even hosted an ethics discussion panel for the first time, which was a huge hit! Here are some photos of the evening. 🌙
