Just a reminder that Achilles training is on tonight, despite the weather.

We are back at Porritt Stadium tonight, so please make sure you head there as usual. There may be a few showers around, with westerlies expected to be strong and gusty this afternoon and evening, so please come prepared, keep warm, and bring an extra layer if you need it 🌦️💨🧥

A special shoutout as well to our awesome athletes and guides who represented Achilles Waikato at the Christchurch Marathon on Sunday 🏅👏 We are so proud of your effort, commitment, and the way you represented Achilles Waikato.

To everyone else, come along tonight for another great session. Let’s not let the weather dampen our spirits — see you there! 😊

Christchurch Marathon was a blast, thanks to the team at Achilles Christchurch for a fantastic weekend, the weather behaved and race day was a success Shane ran a PB for the 42kms in 5.03 while Melvin did the 21kms In 3.23.
Thanks to all our guides who as usual went above and beyond.
In the Marathon Chris, Yoke and Erroll, while Kaysie and Dave did the 21kms..
Safe travels home team..

We are excited to give you an early heads-up about the Fundtastic Farm Run 2026, coming up again this May.
This is the second year Jon has organised this awesome event, alongside Dawn and other amazing volunteers in our community, and we would love to see plenty of Achilles Waikato support there again.
If a little mud did not stop us last year, and neither did all the cow dung, then this year should be no different! Come along, have a laugh, challenge yourself, and help raise money for two amazing charities.
This is a fundraiser, not a race — the goal is simply to get around the course and enjoy the experience. There are 5km and 10km options, and you can choose to run or walk. Just be ready for hills, mud, uneven terrain, and a proper working farm adventure.

Kia ora everyone,
We are absolutely spoilt for choice this weekend, with two awesome community events happening on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday 28 March, we have Relay for Life Hamilton at The Oval, Claudelands Park, running from 9am to 9pm.
This is a fantastic annual fundraising event for the Cancer Society, and a really special chance to get involved in something bigger than ourselves. You do not need to stay all day — you can take part for as little or as long as you like. The Parkfun Team is back again this year, and it would be great to see plenty of Achilles Waikato faces there. It is a great way to get some training in for your next run or walk, enjoy the atmosphere, and support an important cause. A big shout out as well to Chris for all the work he does across the community to champion events and causes like this.

A few updated details for Relay for Life:
Saturday 28 March 2026
The Oval, Claudelands Park, Hamilton
Ticket price: $30 per person
Opening ceremony: 8.45am
Celebration Lap: 9.00am
Activities and food: 10.00am–7.00pm
Candlelight Ceremony/Lap: 7.30pm
Closing: 9.00pm.

Then on Sunday 29 March, we have Theresa’s Fundraising Fun Run & Walk to help get her to the London Marathon. This is another awesome chance to get behind one of our local champions and show our support. The event runs from 7am to 1pm, with a 1.7km lap course at the University of Waikato Village Green, entering via Gate 1, Knighton Road. You can do as many laps as you like, register on the day, and all participants will receive a certificate and be in for spot prizes. There will also be a BBQ, drinks, cakes and raffles, so bring some cash along if you are keen to support on the day. Donations can be made to Theresa’s Givealittle, with registration completed at the event base on the day.
So whether you are keen to walk, run, cheer, fundraise, or simply support, there are some brilliant opportunities this weekend to get involved and back two very worthwhile causes.

We would love to see as many of our crew there as possible.

We are looking at getting a group together for We Run The Night at the Mount and would like to gauge interest at this stage before we complete registrations.

At the moment, we are just seeing who is keen to take part. We are planning to complete registrations later using the Easter discount, so there is no need to register yet.
