Whooping cough is particularly dangerous for newborn babies, and older adults, and in some cases it can be fatal.

Whooping Cough Vaccines are free for pregnant people, all children and young people under 18 years old and adults at 45 and 65 years old, as immunity reduces.

🍃 Whooping cough is highly contagious and can cause serious harm to newborn pēpi.

🍃 Getting your whooping cough vaccine during pregnancy protects your pēpi when they are born.

🍃 Your immunity passes to your baby through the placenta, helping to protect your pēpi until they can have their first immunisations at 6 weeks old.

🍃 Get free Whooping Cough vaccine at your GP or Pharmacy from 16 weeks pregnancy.

Join us for a special wānanga where we will be weaving traditional wahakura (baby sleeping baskets) with the guidance of skilled weavers. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with te ao Māori, support the well-being of pēpi, and learn this cherished cultural practice.

No previous weaving experience is required—just come with an open heart and hands ready to weave!

Wahakura are not only beautiful, but they also provide a safe sleeping space for pēpi, supporting our whānau with traditional care practices.

You can try these tips, if they aren’t working you could contact your midwife to see about medication that can help.
