I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my clients for your ongoing and valued support for the last 3 years since moving from Auckland to Kaitaia, as a small business in the far north, without you all I would not be able to do what I love and am passionate about.

While I take a short break for Christmas, if you would like an appointment in the new year, please feel free to go go BOOK NOW on my page Wae Therapies as there will be no manual (phone) bookings taken during this time 🙂. While I do have a webpage, it is out of date BUT the booking link is current and you will see all my services via that booking link.

I hope you all have a safe and joyful Chistmas and New Year!,

DID YOU KNOW?

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a non-invasive manual technique that utilises soft, rhythmic, gentle and painless sequences. It was developed in France in 1932 by Emil and Estrid Vodder. Based on scientific, physiological principles proven to encourage lymph flow and reduce pain and fluid retention.

MLD can help with swelling, and has been used as a pre and post-surgery treatment to improve post-surgery recovery; congestion due to chronic sinusitis; and may also be beneficial for tinnitus sufferers, menieres syndrome and migraine sufferers (during non-attack phase).

Other conditions that may be helped or provided relief by MLD: whiplash, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, MS, and stroke with hemiplegia, traumatic eye injury (during the recovery phase), stress, bronchitis, stroke (recovery phase), post-fracture recovery, burn scar or scar in general, venous insufficiency, pre & post-hip/knee replacement recovery, osteoarthritis and pre & post-cosmetic surgery recovery.

Ideally TWO or more sessions per week are recommended initially.

If you would like to BOOK IN for these sessions, please PM or TXT 02102415813 with your name, contact details and reason for appts and I will get back to you ASAP.

Do you suffer from?

* pain in the facial or jaw muscles
* localised pain when chewing, talking or yawning
* swelling around the affected joint
* earache, tinnitus or hearing loss
* grating, clicking or popping sounds when the joints move
* a strange or uneven bite – feeling like the teeth don’t fit together well
* the jaw moves to one side in the process of opening
* the jaw locks open or closed
* headaches
* neck or back pain
* trouble swallowing.

Which may be due to these potential causes:
* external trauma such as a blow to the head or jaw
* tooth grinding (bruxism) or jaw clenching
* snoring
* dental problems causing poor alignment between top and bottom teeth
* excessive chewing (e.g. gum or fingernails)
* excessive thrusting forward of bottom jaw
* eating large food items that overextend the TMJ
* joint malformations (e.g. caused by degenerative disease or by birth defect)
* lack of overbite

You may have a dysfunction with your temporomandibular joint (TMJ)

BOOK IN NOW to see how we can better manage these symptoms

Other things that may help post treatment:
* Rest the jaw as much as possible.
* Eat soft foods.
* Reduce gum-chewing.
* Avoid extreme jaw movements (e.g. yawning, shouting, singing).
* Use stress management techniques to help you remember to relax your jaw muscles.
* Apply warm and cold compresses.
* Use anti-inflammatory pain medicines such as ibuprofen or aspirin (children under 16 years of age should not take aspirin-containing medication because of a rare but dangerous complication called Reye’s syndrome).
* Do any jaw exercises that your health practitioner may give you.

I’m a home based Massage Therapist in Mangere Bridge. I offer great tailored massages, utilising techniques such as swedish, deep tissue, tapotement, vibration, frictioning, trigger point therapy and myofascial release. Whether you need to relieve stress and promote relaxation, have tired and sore muscles from exercise, need sports massage(pre/event/post) to keep you performing at your best or you just need some ‘me time’ with a beautiful hot stone massage...get in touch!

If you don’t want to remove your clothes or lie flat on a massage table...I have options for you. Massage is not a treat, it should be part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle to enable you to live your best life and enjoy all that you can.

Please feel free to ask me about coming to you, as I am mobile massage ready and pricing can be discussed and agreed upon.

If you have any chronic, serious illnesses then a medical clearance from your doctor will be required in writing and there are times when massage may be contraindicated.
