When people first hear about Ortho-Bionomy, they often picture something like massage, physio, chiropractic, or stretching.

So it can be helpful to say what this work isn’t.

Ortho-Bionomy is not:

Deep tissue massage
Forceful manipulation
Cracking or “putting things back in place”
Being pushed through discomfort
Something you have to endure for it to work

Nothing is forced, nothing is corrected from the outside.

Instead, this work follows the body’s responses. It uses comfort and awareness to support the body’s own self-corrective reflexes. From an Ortho-Bionomy perspective, pain and tension are often signs of adaptation, not something to fight against.

This matters because many bodies don’t respond well to force, especially if they’re already stressed, sensitive, or overloaded. When the body feels pressured, it often tightens further. When it feels supported, it’s much more likely to soften and change.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by strong treatments, or like your body “shuts down” when it’s pushed, this gentler approach can feel very different.

Understanding what this work is 'not', helps people know whether it’s the right fit...and that clarity is important.

"Tara knows her stuff. Weirdly I don't always remember what has changed until I have a conversation about stuff that has left.

I do remember how much relief I feel at the time of the session and always leave feeling lighter within my body and in my emotions and spirit .

I genuinely love and appreciate the difference the sessions have made to me and Tara's willingness to dig deeper to get to an issue is exactly what gets to the bottom and I love that."

Jaw tension is one of those things many people don’t realise they’re holding… until it’s sore, clicking, or giving them headaches.

Clenching often happens when we’re concentrating, stressed, driving, scrolling, or trying to “get through” something. It’s a very common way the body holds tension without us noticing.

You don’t need to change it or fix it, just noticing when it happens can already make a difference.

If you feel like answering, do you ever notice yourself clenching your jaw? All day, only at night, or hadn’t noticed until now?

I didn’t come to this work because I wanted to “fix” bodies. What drew me to Ortho-Bionomy was its respect for the body’s intelligence, and that change happens most effectively when the body feels listened to, not corrected.

My work is gentle, slow, and responsive. Sessions are fully clothed, unforced, and guided by what your body is doing in the moment. There’s no pressure to relax, no pushing through discomfort, and no expectation to perform.

People often tell me they feel calmer, lighter, or more settled afterwards, not because something was “done” to them, but because their body finally felt safe enough to respond.

The Gentle Path is a space for people who want understanding rather than force, and support rather than pressure.

If that sounds like what you’ve been looking for, you’re welcome here.

If your body could text you right now, what would it say?

“Sit down.”
“Drink water.”
“Stop clenching your jaw.”
“Please stretch.”
“Can we rest?”

Sometimes the body’s messages are surprisingly simple, we just don’t always notice them until they’re loud. You don’t need to analyze it or make changes, just get a little curious.

Feel free to comment a sentence, a word, or even a 😂 if that feels easier.

Why the space you’re in matters to your body

When you walk into a space, your body starts taking it in immediately, long before you consciously think about it. Lights, sounds, pace; whether you feel rushed, watched, or expected to perform.

That’s why the space at The Gentle Path is intentionally quiet, private, and unhurried. It’s designed to be a place where your body doesn’t have to brace or stay on alert.

You stay fully clothed. there’s no pressure to relax, nothing is forced. For many people, simply being in a space that feels calm and safe allows their nervous system to start settling; sometimes before any hands-on work even begins.

Feeling safe isn’t a 'nice extra', it’s a key part of how bodies change.

If busy clinics or strong treatments have felt overwhelming in the past, this space offers something different.

Does the environment you’re in affect how your body feels?

Have you noticed that when life gets stressful, your body tends to react in familiar ways?

For some people it’s the neck and shoulders, for others it’s the lower back, hips, jaw, or stomach.

This isn’t random.

The body learns patterns over time. When stress shows up, it often goes straight to the places that have helped you cope before; areas that brace, stabilize, or hold things together when you need to keep going.

That doesn’t mean those parts are “weak” or problematic. It usually means they’ve been doing a lot of work for you. Understanding this can change how we respond. Instead of fighting tension or trying to force it away, we can start to notice it earlier and offer the body support before things escalate.

Do you have a “usual place” where stress shows up for you?

A small thing to try when your shoulders feel tight. This isn’t a stretch and it’s not about “fixing” anything.

If your shoulders feel tight or heavy, try this instead:

• Let your arms hang by your sides
• Gently lift your shoulders up toward your ears
• Pause there for a moment
• Then slowly let them drop, without forcing them down

That’s it.

Often, the body responds better when it’s allowed to choose release rather than being pushed into it. Even noticing the difference between “holding” and “letting go” can be enough to create a little ease.

You can do this as many times as you like - there’s no right amount.

If you try it, did anything shift, even slightly?

What I notice in people who are always “holding it together”

A lot of people I meet are managing a lot of things. Managing work, family, responsibilities, pain or discomfort in the background.

Often, their bodies are doing the same thing; holding, bracing, staying alert, staying capable.

Over time, that constant “holding it together” can show up as tight shoulders, jaw tension, shallow breathing, fatigue, or a sense that the body never really switches off.

None of this means you’re doing anything wrong...it usually means you’ve been doing a lot, for a long time. Bodies don’t need to be told to cope better. They often need permission and support to stop coping for a while.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and your body isn’t failing you - it’s responding to life.

Does this resonate with you, or someone you know?
