Yes, we are still going.... even though I am so slack with posting on facebook. :( ... On Thursday 6th Feb at 6pm, we are kicking off this year with an exchange of ideas about garden sculptures and ornaments. Anything goes, quirky, serious art, self made, found. If you made it yourself, tell us about the process, or what it means to you.
The picture shows a sculpture from my own garden. The stone man was created years ago, when we had to dig a long trench through very stony terrain. This year I added the concrete pawn, which was supposed to be a part of another installation. However, since these two completely different figures seem to have a deep conversation I think I will keep them as is.
So, if you have nothing planned for the evening of Waitangi Day, feel free to come along and bring pictures of your favourite garden adornment.

This Thursday (1 August) we will have a guest speaker at the KeriTLC meeting. Archaeologist Dr James Robinson, will speak about Maori food. I have to admit, my knowledge of Maori food and edible natives doesn't go much beyond the amazing Kawakawa, so I am truly looking forward to learning more.
If you are interested too, you are most welcome to come along to the presentation at Cherry Park House 1 August at 6pm . Our meetings are free of charge.

OMG, it has been a while. Yes, the KeriTLC is still going strong, with regular meetings on the 1st Thursday of the month @ Cherry Park House. Usually 15 to 20 people come together to share their knowledge and experiences regarding lifestyle topic of the night. The gatherings are free of charge. We usually bring some food to share and a koha is always appreciated. The week after the meeting, I send out an email-newsletter summarising what we've talked about and what the next topic will be.
Last meeting we had a wonderful evening about extracting the health properties of plants. One of our members brought along her alembic still (pictured) and explained how to extract essential oils and hydrosols. Others shared their recipes for tinctures, salves and oxymel. Afterwards we agreed that the topic was so interesting and there are certainly more people out there who would have been keen to learn.
I don't want to make the same mistake again :) and I promised to revive the face book page to announce our next meeting. This time we will have a guest speaker, who will talk about Maori food. A more detailed post will follow :) So I hope I've got you interested!
