Hospice Mid-Northland

Hospice Mid-Northland Ph 09 407 7799. admin@hospicemn.org.nz Care and support to those facing a life-limiting illness and to their family/whanau.

Hospice Mid-Northland is an incorporated society registered under the Charities Act 2005 and is partly funded by the Government, with the remainder sourced from donations and fundraising. We cover the area from Towai in the south to Taupo Bay in the north, and coast-to-coast in between, including South Hokianga. In the earlier days, we supported small numbers of families and this has risen to over 220 families annually since 2018. We have four retail stores, please donate to us. Donations can be dropped at the Green Shed @ 464 Kerikeri Road or we can pick up furniture to sell in our Furniture Shop.

Please check your donation bags before dropping them to us.

Our volunteers reach into every bag by hand. Last week, a bag of clothing arrived with large kitchen knives hidden inside. This put our team at real risk.

We rely on you to keep donations safe.

• Remove knives, blades, needles, broken glass or any sharp items.
• Do not send soiled or wet clothing.
• Pack fragile or risky items separately.
• Only donate items that are clean and suitable for resale.

Your care protects our volunteers and helps us keep running strong for our community.

EcoJunk Partnership Awareness

When you donate items to Hospice Shops, we sort everything carefully so your donations can raise funds for free specialist care in our community. Sometimes we receive items that we can’t resell. Instead of leaving you stuck with unwanted goods, we can point you to EcoJunk, a local Kerikeri service doing great work to reduce waste in Northland.

EcoJunk has had a strong week, with six collections completed after being featured in the NZ Herald. They pick up household and business junk, and they give shout outs to locals who use their service. You can check them out at EcoJunk NZ on Facebook.

If our team can’t take an item because it isn’t suitable for sale, you can use EcoJunk as a simple next step that keeps waste out of landfill and supports another local business doing good work.

You can reach them on 021 220 9521 or through their page.

💙 $21,011.37 RAISED FOR HOSPICE MID-NORTHLAND! 💙

What an incredible result from this year’s Blue Heelers Charity Fishing Tournament!

A massive thank you to the Blue Heelers team, the Swordfish Club Paihia, and every angler, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who helped make this event such a success.

The energy, generosity, and community spirit over the four days were nothing short of amazing. From the early-morning launches to the packed fish auctions each night, you’ve helped raise vital funds that keep Hospice Mid-Northland providing free care and support for local families.

Your kindness makes a real difference — every fish sold, every raffle ticket, every donation adds up to more comfort and dignity for those we care for.

🎣 Thank you, Blue Heelers, for once again standing behind Hospice and showing what community can achieve together.

🍰 Something Sweet for the Soul 💛

We’re thrilled to welcome Good Bi***es Baking (GBB) to the Bay of Islands!

This incredible volunteer group is all about spreading kindness through home baking. Every week, their team of good-hearted bakers whip up delicious homemade treats, which are then delivered to people going through tough times — including our Hospice patients and their carers.

It’s a small gesture that brings a little sunshine to some of life’s darker days. ✨

We’re so grateful to be one of the charities supported by Good Bi***es Baking, and we’re excited to see their Bay of Islands chapter officially open!

If you love to bake and want to make a difference from your own kitchen, you can join their network of bakers and help support Hospice Mid-Northland and our wider community.

👉 Visit www.gbb.org.nz
to learn more, sign up, or find your local chapter.

🎣 Spotlight on Sponsors

A massive thank-you to the Swordfish Club Paihia, the proud hosts of the Blue Heelers Fishing Competition, an incredible community event raising vital funds for Hospice Mid-Northland.

The Swordfish Club is the heart of the action — home to the event’s social hub and the much-anticipated Fish Auction, where the community comes together to bid on the day’s catch and support Hospice care across the Mid North.

From sponsoring the Adrenaline Package prize at Battle of the Ballroom to hosting this major fundraiser, the Swordfish Club continues to show what true community spirit looks like. 💛
