Here are a few valuable PRE + POST Treatment tips from me as your experienced injector:
Before Your Appointment
🧃 PLEASE eat before you come in. Low blood sugar = higher chance of feeling faint or dizzy. And no coffee doesn't count!
💊 Zinc can help tox last longer – 30mg a day may help the longevity of your anti-wrinkle.
🚫 Stop supplements that thin the blood – Things like fish oil, magnesium, vitamin E, garlic, etc. can increase bruising. Ideally stop 3–5 days before (if safe for you). I would also suggest avoiding caffeine the day of & day prior to even further minimise bruising.
😷 Cold sore prone? – If you're getting lip treatment or near the mouth, have acyclovir on hand or start it a few days prior to treatment.
📆 Your period can affect your pain tolerance + bruising. If you’re due (or on) your period, you will feel more sensitive or bruise more easily. Book around your cycle if you can.
Aftercare Must-Knows
🛏️ Sleep slightly elevated – This helps reduce swelling, especially after filler.
💧 Drink water – Hydrated skin heals better and holds product better.
🧼 Fresh pillowcase + clean face flannel – You’d be surprised what’s living on your linen. Dirty linen can lead to infection.
🍝 Skip salty or spicy food after lip filler – It can make swelling worse or irritate your lips while they’re healing.
🚫 Avoid using straws - Suction can put pressure on the product and possibly affect shape while it’s still settling. Obviously this is for lipfiller treatment.
📱 Keep your dirty phone and sunglasses off areas of treatment. This can lead to infection.
💉 Bruises can take a week or more to show
Sometimes they pop up a few days later – don’t panic. Arnica or Hirudoid can help them fade quicker. If you know you're a bruiser you can take oral Arnica a few days prior to treatment to help minimise bruising.
These are all valuable tips I’ve learned over years of injecting. I don’t tell you this stuff just for the sake of it, it actually matters. They work. And they genuinely help you heal better and get the most out of your treatment.
