A new report shows the sector added $16 billion to GDP in 2024 alone, supporting over 227,000 jobs across the country. From growers and lab techs to budtenders and security staff, cannabis is now woven into Canada’s economic fabric.
Ontario leads the pack, generating $8.3B and nearly 90,000 jobs, but smaller provinces like PEI and New Brunswick are also cashing in thanks to strong retail multipliers. Every dollar spent on legal cannabis adds even more value back into the economy.
It’s a clear reminder that legalisation is a huge opportunity for business, innovation, and resilience. Meanwhile, the UK continues to leave billions untapped in the illicit market.
