After 40, strength training becomes less about aesthetics - and more about independence, posture, energy, and aging well. "Before I came to Align, I was unable to walk properly because of sharp intense pain in both my knees.
Because I couldn't get on the waiting list for knee replacements, I came to Align for help.
Now my muscles are strong enough to enable me to walk normally and most of the pain has gone.
I now realise .. specific exercises were needed to strengthen my leg muscles. They had been wasting away because I wasn't doing the right exercises!

Hi, I’m Brianna - Exercise Specialist and founder of Align Functional Fitness.

Align was born from a desire to create a space for people who may not feel like they fit the traditional gym mold - where they could show up as they are, feel supported and build confidence in how they move.

This vision was deeply personal.

Years ago, a head injury led to a neurological condition that completely changed how I had to approach movement. I went from pushing hard to learning how to truly listen to my body - adapting my programming based on how I felt each day. Some days I could move with energy and ease. Other days, it was about just showing up and doing what I could (or even some days knowing when to opt out.)

That experience taught me the value of flexible, compassionate coaching - and the importance of meeting people where they’re at.

At Align, that’s what we do. Every person who walks through our doors is supported with expert guidance, personalised programming, and a coach who sees the whole picture - not just the workout.

Because movement should help you feel strong, capable, and consistent with your life - not limited by it. It’s about moving with purpose, showing up as you are, and building progress over time.

No matter your age, ability, or starting point, at Align we're here to guide you with compassion, expertise, and a plan that adapts with you.

We're excited to launch Amplified Ability, our adaptive exercise programme made for Tamariki with physical disabilities - designed to build confidence, strength and motor skills, in a fun, inclusive environment.

Fully funded for 10 participants thanks to Tu Manawa Active Aotearoa and Sport Tasman!

Ages 11-13*
Weekly group sessions | Tuesday or Thursdays
3:30pm-4:15pm

8-Week block - Starts 22nd July 2025

Caitlin specialises in the delivery of exercise, lifestyle and behavioral modification programmes for the prevention, management and rehabilitation of chronic conditions and injuries.

She provides individualised and specialised exercise and lifestyle education for clients across a wide spectrum of health, including those diagnosed with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, or chronic pain or injury.
