Embracing chaos - not something we hear often in a positive aspect 🧐

Sport when you think about it, it is chaotic. But does your rehabilitation have a chaotic spin to it before you return to playing 🤷‍♀️??

Research and clinical experience has shown the greatest risk to injury is ACTUALLY previous injury (Fuller et al., 2007). Although a more recent study by Buckthorpe et al., (2019) highlighted it’s not just the injury but whether the individual continues with their rehabilitation long enough into their return to play (RTP).

For instance, rugby RTP protocols have not only a strength, load and endurance component; there is a running and tackle RTP protocol and what they call a ‘ruck n run’ for the unpredictable yet loading under fatigue. Thus making their rehab more chaotic.

If you’ve recently had a sports injury, call 📞 or book online 💻 to commence your individualised programme for a safe, effective and chaotic RTP.

Life can be overwhelming at this time of year with
Christmas 🎄fast approaching, school holidays, deadlines 📥 to be met, food prep 🥘, wrap presents or even buy presents 🎁 , the list goes on!

Remember you got this.

🛑 Stop
👃 Breathe in via your nose.
👄 Breathe out through your mouth, relaxing your jaw and shoulders.
🧘‍♀️ Refocus.
Continue.

It’s amazing what 3 breaths can do to reset your system and focus, before tackling our next task.

Go on, give it a go 🥰

Third trimester, can you believe it. You’re almost there.

These are some of the symptoms women report during their “last trimester” but remember there is actually a 4th trimester that the majority of people forget about.

We underestimate the powers and wonders of exercising, both mentally and physically.

No matter whether it’s a short walk around the block or taking the stairs at work instead of the lift.

Movement is movement at the end of the day and we all have to start somewhere.

There is no time like the presence especially as summer approaches.

Go on, what you waiting for?

Osteoarthritis is one of the highest causes of disability in New Zealand, affecting 1️⃣ in 4️⃣ adults which directly affects not only their quality of life but their family life, economy and health system (Bosley & Miles, 2009).

A 3 year pilot study across Aotearoa, 20 DHB’s and 4783 (of which 19 percent identified as Maori), completed a Mobility Action Plan programme revealed a significant reduction in GP visits, reduced surgeries, reduced pain, increased mobility/function/quality of life, and improvements with mental health.

This programme involved educational sessions and exercise programmes provided to patients in the study.

From the study, Maori reports they were 3.6 times likely to report health improvements and 3x more likely to return to work/seek work.

Exercise is important but if you’re unsure where to start. Get in touch and we can help you with an individualised programme.

Do you play sport and think leaking is normal? 🧐

A staggering 1️⃣ in 4️⃣ women and 1️⃣ in 2️⃣ that exercise suffer from Incontinence.

Whether you have had children or not, leaking urine MAY be common but it’s ABNORMAL.

Self care is important especially at this time of year as we lead up to Christmas.

Ensure you make time for number one, YOU 🫵. If you don’t who will?
