And a very important day indeed….

💜 It’s World Menopause Day! (18 October)

This year’s theme is Lifestyle Medicine – all about how the way we eat, move, rest, and manage stress can make a big difference to how we feel through menopause. 🌿

Menopause can sometimes affect bladder and bowel health too – things like hormonal changes, pelvic floor strength, or tissue support.

But here’s the thing 👉 you’re not alone, and there are ways to support your continence and feel more confident every day – small changes can make a big difference 👇

What we have always known…

Good to see this large international study from Edinburgh university looking at the impact of diet on endometriosis.

As nutritional therapists following a functional medicine approach this is nothing new and diet has a significant role to play in reducing inflammation. But we also consider many more aspects such as gut health and liver detoxification which have a profound effect on hormone balancing. We also consider the impact of environmental toxins on oestrogen levels and regarding food it gets even more complex for some as increased histamine from mast cell activation can contribute to pain and inflammation. Interestingly increased oestrogen can cause increased histamine and vice versa so it can become a vicious cycle. As always the key is in finding your why.

“Dietary changes could reduce the pain of endometriosis for half of those living with the disease, a new study suggests. The largest international survey ever conducted on diet and endometriosis, involving 2,599 people, found 45% of those who stopped eating gluten and 45% of those who cut out dairy reported experiencing an improvement in their pain.

When women cut down on coffee or other caffeine in their diet, 43% said their pain was reduced, while 53% of women who cut back on alcohol reported the same.

Philippa Saunders, senior author of the study and professor of reproductive steroids at the University of Edinburgh, said: “It really feels like we are on the cusp of something pretty big with understanding how diet affects endometriosis symptoms.”

Meet Lisa
Lisa is equal parts humbled and excited to be back on the theatre stage after a 28yr hiatus. She's spent the last chapter of her life being a mum and wife and serving the local community in her pelvic health physiotherapy practise.
After reading the script for The Ladies Foursome, Lisa had a defining moment; she knew it was now or never to re-kindle her early love of performance. She is thrilled to be playing Connie, who is larger than life, unapologetically herself and just a little bit naughty!

Sudden crashing fatigue. If you’re a female, especially one in perimenopause or menopause, you’ve probably experienced it. Here’s why + how to stop it.
