Did you know that cumulative sun exposure and childhood sunburn can increase the risk of melanoma later in life? It is essential that you protect yourself and your children from the sun with protective measures, including:

☀️ SPF 50+ sunscreen (remember 20 minutes before you go in the sun, and 2 hourly when you are out in it).
☀️ Broad brimmed had that protect the ears, and the back of the neck.
☀️ Seek shade when you can and try to plan outdoor activities before 10 am and after 4 pm in the summer months.

What is an SCC (Squamous Cell Carcinoma)?

An SCC, or cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, is a type of skin cancer that develops from squamous cells, the cells responsible for producing keratin, the main protein found in your skin, hair, and nails.

When detected early, SCCs can be treated effectively with non-invasive procedures. However, if they grow deeper into the skin, surgical removal may be required. If left untreated, SCCs can invade tissue, muscle, bone, and nerves, and approximately 5% can spread to other organs.
