Meet Bianca ✨

Born in Milan to an Italian-Syrian family, Bianca grew up surrounded by different cultures and a deep curiosity about the world. After years working in digital marketing in Amsterdam, burnout led her to completely change direction.

In 2024, she left everything behind to travel through India, where she discovered yoga as a philosophy of life, practiced Vipassana meditation in Nepal, and later taught yoga in Morocco.

Now, based in New Plymouth, Bianca is building a new chapter rooted in slow living, mindfulness, community, and authentic connection. Alongside teaching yoga, she recently launched The Kindness Supper Club — a space for plant-based food, meaningful conversations, and sharing stories 🧡☀️

Her episode is now available on Spotify ✨️🌿

✨ Celebrating one year with Clara & Brian ✨

This month marks one year since Clara and Brian joined Making Yourself at Home — a show that has now been running for around 6 years 💛

I still remember how it all happened…
In March last year, Brian stepped in as co-host just as Andrea was leaving. We mentioned on air that we were looking for someone, and Brian simply said, “I can do that.” And just like that — he was in 🙌

The very next show, Clara came as a guest. Simona was about to leave for Austria, and again we said on air that we were looking… and Clara said, “I’d be interested.”

And just like that — Clara joined too ✨

Since then, we’ve had so many beautiful conversations, incredible guests, and watched this community grow. People come, share their stories, feel heard… and leave feeling a little more at home 🤍

That’s what this show is about — creating a space where people feel they belong.

One of the highlights last year was the event we organised together at Toi Foundation — bringing over 80 people (adults and children) together. With support from Creative NZ and Migrant Connection, it was such a special moment of community 🌍

I feel so grateful for both of you — for the time, the energy, the extra hours, and the heart you bring into this space.

And to everyone listening and being part of this journey — thank you. You are amazing 💛 .kibbel

This week on Making Yourself at Home, we had the pleasure of speaking with Shankar Nautiyal— yoga teacher, meditation guide, and real estate professional 🌿

Originally from the Himalayas in northern India, Shankar brings a deep sense of culture, connection, and mindfulness into everything he does. Teaching since 2007 across India, South East Asia, and New Zealand, he blends breath, alignment, and mantra meditation to support people in living more consciously.

What we loved most is how he sees the similarities between his mountain home and New Zealand — the landscapes, the calm, and the sense of community. That feeling of “home” truly comes through in his story 💛

🎙️ Hosted this week by (Spain) and (Venezuela) – thank you both for bringing such beautiful energy to the show!

📻 We are LIVE every Monday from 11am – 12pm on .4fm

This week, we are joined by Mervyn from England, sharing a beautiful story of courage, love, and belonging.

Mervyn is originally from England and moved to New Zealand in 1971, arriving as a PE and English teacher knowing no one. After about a year, as he says, “miraculously,” he met Jill. They married, settled in New Plymouth, and built a life together raising their three children.

Mervyn taught at Sacred Heart before beginning a 28-year journey at Spotswood College, teaching English and drama. Alongside his teaching career, he and Jill spent time in China (2004–2012), teaching English at four universities.

Now retired, Mervyn continues to work with a small number of students — a true reflection of his love for learning and teaching. As a member of the Baha’i community, he is currently helping organise the Taranaki Race Unity Speech Awards.

✨ “My move to New Zealand was the best move of my life.”
And for Mervyn, New Plymouth became home — something he feels every time he sees the mountain.

🙏 A big thank you to our co-hosts
Alina from Romania and Maria from Venezuela for bringing warmth, curiosity, and connection to this conversation.

🏡 Making Yourself at Home – Meet Chloé from France

Chloé moved to New Zealand from France in 2015 with her partner. After three months travelling around the country, they settled in Auckland while she worked towards passing her English exam so she could practise as an osteopath in New Zealand.

A year later, they followed their love for surfing, hiking, and biking and moved to New Plymouth — where the ocean, the mountain, and the lifestyle quickly made Taranaki feel like home.

After her son was born, Chloé opened her own clinic, Holistic Osteopath, creating a way to balance her passion for supporting people’s health with family life. She works with people experiencing back pain, injuries, headaches, and has a special interest in supporting pregnancy, postpartum, and babies.

Now with two children (7 and 4), she found a beautiful balance between work, family, and the outdoors here in Taranaki and working from Physio Pilates NP 🌿
