We recently held our second awards event of the year, recognising milestones across our team, including Infrastructure Works Level 2 completions, drainlaying registrations, and Level 3–4 water qualifications.

It was a privilege to host representatives from Manukorihi Hapū Charitable Trust, MSD, Vertical Horizon, and Connexis. Our Infrastructure Works Level 2 programme is delivered in partnership with Manukorihi Hapū Charitable Trust, MSD, and Vertical Horizon — together we’re removing barriers to entry and combining community support, and on-the-job training to create real pathways into civil infrastructure.

Events like this help us acknowledge the hard work behind these achievements and celebrate as a team.

Kia ora — the OPS crew attended the MATES in Construction BBQ at Hirepool this morning. Big thanks to Hirepool, CCNZ, and Professional Excavation for sponsoring the coffee. Great to connect with others in the civil industry.

MATES do vital work in su***de prevention across our sector. We had 20+ of our team there today learning how to look out for each other.

On a personal note: earlier in my career I worked on the Ichthys project in Darwin (not with OPS). The wider project had tragic losses to su***de over the years — a reminder of why taking time for events like this is important.

Need to talk? MATES 24/7: 0800 111 315 or text 5353. Or call/text 1737 any time. In an emergency, call 111.

OPS Plumbing & Pipeline is now Amotai Registered!

We’re proud to share that OPS Plumbing & Pipeline is officially part of the Amotai Supplier Network – a platform that connects Māori and Pasifika-owned businesses with buyers across government, corporate, iwi, and community sectors.

Being part of this network means we’re standing alongside other Māori and Pasifika businesses, strengthening connections, and opening doors for collaboration across Aotearoa.

This milestone reflects our commitment to building partnerships, growing opportunities, and contributing to the communities we serve.

🚧 Concrete Pad Upgrade Underway – Eltham 🚧

This week we kicked off work on a new heavy-duty concrete slab at the Fonterra truck exit on Collingwood Street, Eltham.

The 160m² pad is being constructed in two halves to keep the site operational, using 200mm thick 45MPa concrete over compacted AP65, with SE92 mesh, fibre reinforcement, and geogrid for ground stability.

Our team is managing this live site carefully, keeping one direction of traffic open at all times while delivering a durable, high-spec finish designed to handle ongoing heavy vehicle use.

Thanks to South Taranaki District Council for the collaboration 👷‍♂️

Earlier this year, our team at OPS Plumbing & Pipeline completed a stormwater upgrade at Lepperton School to fix flooding around the playground — and we were stoked to be part of a project that made a real difference for local tamariki.

On top of that, we also funded and sealed the school’s pump track, working alongside our sister company Avenue Roading to get it done right.

Now one of the students, Savarna, is doing her bit to give back — taking part in the school’s 2025 Fun Run to help raise money for new playground gear and technology equipment.

If you’d like to support her and help the school keep moving forward, you can donate to her fundraiser here: https://app.schoolfundraising.co.nz/fundraising/savarna-7a74d71a-7e45-46be-b2ff-982d3ac2de21

New Drain Laid — Clean, Fast, and Professional 💦

We recently completed a drainage job for a local property that needed a trench dug and pipe laid — and we’re stoked with how tidy the finish came out 👌

Here’s what the homeowner had to say:

“We needed a trench dug and pipe laid. Denay from OPS did a good price for us and the guys doing the job were excellent and very accommodating, and they worked fast. They even replaced the sods of turf, so you wouldn’t know a new drain had been laid. Excellent work.”

Big credit to the team for their speed, attention to detail, and keeping the customer happy.

Day 2 Highlights – and the Night’s Not Over Yet! 💼🎤🪩

It’s been a massive Day 2 at the 2025 Civil Contractors Conference for the OPS Plumbing & Pipeline crew!

We had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Chris Luxon, always good to continue the conversation around the future of infrastructure and the role contractors play in building resilient communities.

Now the real fun’s kicking off — the team is fully in the spirit of the themed dinner and party night! From psychedelic prints to angels, aliens, and captains on deck — we’ve gone all-in, and the vibes are unreal. 🎭🛸✈️🕺

The night’s still young, so we’ll keep the stories rolling… but safe to say, this team knows how to put in the mahi and enjoy the moment.

The OPS team at Fitzgerald Lane, Hāwera completed asbestos removal works last week for the South Taranaki District Council as part of the Business Park project.

With safety and precision at the core of our operation, our scope involved the controlled removal of 70 metres of 180mm asbestos cement (AC) pipe, carried out in full compliance with Class B non-friable asbestos removal protocols.

Careful steps were taken to:
🚧 Set up the site with full traffic and pedestrian control
🚧 Expose the AC pipe using a digger and hand tools
🚧 Remove full pipe sections, minimising breakage wherever possible
🚧 Suppress dust emissions using a continuous water mist
🚧 Decontaminate tools, PPE, and the work zone in line with our procedures
🚧 Transport asbestos waste to our licensed Bell Block disposal yard
🚧 Obtain clearance certification for the completed removal area ✅

Well done to the team for delivering another clean, safe job from start to finish – keeping the community protected while building for the future. 💪

Work is well underway on the Rising Sewer Main installation along Glover Road in Hāwera! 🚜🚧

This essential project involves the installation of 253 metres of DN225 pipe on grade and forms a key part of the wider wastewater network upgrade for the region. It’s a critical step in strengthening Hāwera’s infrastructure to meet the needs of the community now and into the future.

Our team is focused on delivering the works safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, laying the groundwork for resilient, long-term public infrastructure. 💪🚧
