Overthinking can feel like you’re trying to solve something.

Going over it, analysing it, trying to land on the right answer so the feeling settles.

Most of the time it’s not a thinking problem.
It’s your body holding onto something that doesn’t feel right yet.

That’s where anxiety kicks in.
The nervous system is activated and the mind jumps in to try and control it.

So you end up overthinking… instead of actually feeling what’s there.

That’s why you can’t resolve it.
You can’t think your way out of a feeling.

So you get triggered sometimes. It happens and you’re not alone in that.

Pay attention to it because it’s not random.

Usually there’s something inside that needs a look.

Your body’s pretty good at flagging what’s out of whack.
This is one of the ways it does it.

Try not blame or dump it on someone else straight away.

That phrase usually comes from someone who’s known you a long time.
Someone who’s comfortable with a version of you that no longer exists.
Your growth has made them uneasy and they don’t quite know what to do with that — so it comes out as concern or scorn 🫣.
Sometimes it’s genuine, sometimes ain’t.
Either way, it’s not your challenge to mitigate

Conversations get messy real quick when people are hinting instead of saying it straight.

Then there’s guessing, assuming, reading tone, trying to figure out what was actually meant. Recipe for disaster much 🥴

Whole lot of blah blah noise… when the actual thing you wanted to say could’ve just been said 🤷🏽‍♀️

You can enjoy your own space and still know when something feels off.

There’s a difference between being alone and feeling alone.

Being alone is usually a choice. It can feel peaceful, grounding.

Feeling alone is different. Most of the time it’s got nothing to do with needing to be around people and everything to do with something in you not being met in the way it needed and it hits like a tonne of bricks out of nowhere.

Be honest about it with yourself and notice where it sits in your body.
Let it be what it is without turning it into a whole story about your worth.

News flash fam: Life is not going to calm down.
There will always be something.
Here’s what nobody tells you; you have the ability to speed up or slow down what’s happening in your world. You get to navigate the ebbs and the flows. You are not just at the mercy of all of it.

I used to feel guilty every time I needed something.
Like needing sleep or five minutes of quiet made me a bad mum, rotten partner. I spent so long squashing those needs down that I forgot they were even there.

Nobody ever told us we were allowed to say them out loud.

So I’m telling you now.
You are allowed to need things too and that is not selfish.

You hold space for everyone. You are allowed to need someone to hold it for you too.
Even if that someone is yourself.
